Maybe using the freeze and upcoming CBA as a bargaining chip.

Hey guys, heard a rumour on the Leaf board that Tim Connolly is heading to Colorado. O'Reilly remains unsigned, we need a C, hmmm.

In all honesty what would you guys want back for ROR, Connolly would be just one piece.

I don't think I would trade O'Reilly for Kessel straight up to be honest let alone anything else where Tim Connolly is the main piece coming back.

Connolly not as a main piece but a piece, something like

1st 2013
Franson(#4 d-man)
Connolly(3rd line C)
MacArthur(2nd line LW)

Maybe if you promise to come in last place

I hope that rumour isn't accurate because Connolly sucks.

O'Reilly is only 21 years old and he was arguably our best player last season. You cannot have him for those average/below average players. Avs are coming out of a rebuild and want to make a playoffs so the pick doesn't mean that much to them. It'll be a huge step back.

First Stastny, then Duchene, and now O'Reilly. Leafs fans need to go find a center from some other team. Leave us alone.

No way. O'Reilly will make the pick at least somewhere between 9-14 and if you guys can get Luongo too then you will make the playoffs and the pick would become even lower. Plus we don't really need Franson or MacArthur so there value isn't that high to us.

O'Reilly's twitter said near the end of July that he wouldn't be back in Denver til the end of August or so, possibly waiting to sign until he's back..

I counter with a rumor from the Avs board.

Avs are not interested in Connolly.

I think I'd be ok if it would be Connolly for O'Reilly and Landeskog. It would be hard to let O'Reilly go, but I think it would be worth it.

Would you be okay if it was just Connolly for Nermark?

I mean that's at least one Swede gone?

It's pointless starting a new thread about EJ on the main forum. That's flypaper for trolls.

I don't know what's gotten into some Oilers fans lately. I don't even know how to describe them so I'll invent a new word for them. Smugnorant.

Last year Eager and Belanger were the solutions. Belanger was in fact going to have a bigger impact than O Reilly.

I remember having an argument with a poster called Zeus about O'Reilly and Belanger.

I'm going to refrain from posting this on the main board Erik thread because there's too many calling him a "bust" for really absurd reasons.... Since you guys get to see him most how has he developed? Has he made strides since you traded for him? And what do you think his potential ultimately is? I remember when he got drafted hearing about him and I was immediately drawn to follow him. Then the injury happened and obviously it seems something has been amiss since then. Anyone still think he can reach his top-end potential from draft day? And if not why not? And did the injury really affect him that much? Thanks guys again I don't get to see much of him anymore.

The second part of this last season he showed very serious promise, he seemed to develop a bit of a mean streak. The issue right now holding him back is the AVS have not found him a top pairing D partner, he's hindered by having to cover his weak defensive partner.

I'd definitely love to see him turn into the beast he was supposed to be. (And I suppose he still could considering he's only 24). Someone said Shea Weber is what Erik should've been. I suppose there's still time for that and would certainly LOVE to see that happen. If it does the Avs have scary potential. Again I keep holding out that he'll put it all together after all Lidstrom wasn't the Lidstrom we know till he was what 26/27 years old? Keith won his first Norries at 26/27. Chara didn't become a beast himself until his late 20's and really once he got the Bruins (change of scenery, ect.).
