Mighty Ducks/Ducks players who will get their number retired?

Hey there.

I was wondering about players who play/played for ducks that will get their number retired? I don't mean only by Ducks, but for any team they have played for.

Example:

Selanne will get his number retired by you AND by Jokerit in Finalnd. (That is a guess, but you get my point)

Niedermayer will get his number retired by Devils?

It does not even have to be number retirement, but just a gesture from a team that player used to play for. Jersey retirement just is the most common way to get recognized by team.

We`ll retire Teemu and Giggy. I doubt about Kariya (we let other player wear #9 (Bobby), but, for example, we are not giving #35 to anyone even after Giggy is gone.

Scotty and Prongs played only couple of years here, i doubt they`ll be retired, even though they were big pieces of our SC wiining team. Prongs is a journeyman, so idk about him, but Nieds obviously have his number retired in NJ for a reason.

I think #91 will be retired somewhere.

London Knights retired Perrys` number.

We`ll see how it plays out, but probably R-P-G numbers will be retired somewhere ( i really hope in Anaheim)

I`m pretty confident Jiggy is for sure to.

10 years, 2 finals (key piece in both), one Conn Smythe, many franchise records.
Also, like i said, Ducks aren`t giving #35 to anyone (even though it is very popular number with who many players play in other teams, but when they come here, they end up with any other number).

I`ll be highly dissapointed if #35 isn`t up in the rafters.

Teemu

Giggy

Niedermayer
Pronger

Who has come here asking for #35 expect Toskala?

Kariya was such a big part of the franchise in the early days, I'm surprised he isn't getting more support.

You guys know your team better than I do though, I'm sure you have your reasons.

Toskala, Gibson.

Not sure that these ''high numbers'' works with goalie prospects.
Take it as you like, but i`m feeling #35 isn`t going to be given for anyone.

Teemu and Jiggy, no-one else.

Nieds has had his number done by NJ, Pronger was here for what, 3 seasons? And I doubt Anaheim would even try to retire Kariya's number [Bobby already wears it + a lot of fan backlash no doubt]

Huge respect against Scotty and Pronger, they were really big peaces for us and i really enjoyed the time they were in Anaheim, but...

they played to short of a time to retire their jerseys.

If they would have played here at least 6-7 seasons, i think no one would argue their numbers should be retired.

Teemu, Giggy and maybe Nieds. Pronger definitely won't have his # retired, neither will Kariya.

I always thought they would do Hebert's jersey one day.

On topic, I would say Flash and Giggy should be retired.

Would like Nieds too, but that, I think, will be a management decision

I would add Scotty, he still has a gig with the team which I think increases his chances.

You gotta at least consider Scotty. Captained the team to their first Stanley Cup. Conn Smythe. Beast Numbers. 1st Ballot Hall of Famer. Winner. Brought legitimacy to the franchise.

If Borque got his number retired by the Avs, I could easily see Niedermayer getting his retired by the Ducks. After Selanne and Jiggy tho.

I'd like to see Nied's too. He probably won't get it tough. He is going up the rafters in Jersey.

Selanne is the only number we should retire IMO.

While Giguere made huge contributions to the franchise #35 is too much of a typical goalie number to retire for me.

Niedermayer and Pronger's tenures were too short.

Retiring 4 numbers(Possibly 6 with Getzlaf and Perry) from one cup run is overkill.

I don't think using the Av's retirement of Borque is a good example, I don't think there are many people in all of hockey who agreed with it being retirement in the Av's franchise.

I don't think the primary reason for retiring all those numbers is due to one cup run. It just so happens that 2006-07 represents the apex achievement of the franchise so far between the old (Selanne and Giguere), the new (Getzlaf/Perry) and the glue (Niedermayer).

Selanne is a given. Giguere for his 10+ years, clutch playoff performances and franchise records. Niedermayer for his tenure with the team, adding creditability to the franchise and its new ownership, his HOF resume and being the cup captain. Pronger I don't think will get his Ducks number retired. Getzlaf and Perry are still too early to call, but if they remain with the Ducks for their careers then they will likely get their numbers up in the rafters one day.
