If he can be Steve Bernier, then it's good enough for me.

If he ends up being bad, oh well, just send him to Albany.

Lou said Bobby had other options but came here to visit and eventually chose to come here.

he could be another Ryan Carter...no longer wanted/needed with one team, then BOOM a playoff stud with us.

Two way deal, virtually no risk associated with this deal; hard not to love it. If he doesn't produce he gets buried in Albany. The upside is definitely there though, and with Ponikarovsky gone we definitely needed another winger to compete with Tedenby for his spot on the third line. I still figure we're short an established top 6 player though, whether we'll get it or not is another question. Either way i'd like to see Clarkson bumped out of the top 6.

Hopefully Huselius gets cleared to play and we can snap him up on the cheap. Not really a fan of Kostitsyn. Gilbert Brule is another young guy i wouldn't mind us taking a look at on the cheap; he was pretty effective with Phoenix towards the end of last season and also had a good run of play for the Oilers back when they were icing effectively an AHL lineup a few seasons ago. First choice would be a healthy Huselius though.

Kovalchuk - Zajac - Henrique
Huselius - Elias - Zubrus
Tedenby/Butler - Josefson - Clarkson
Carter - Gionta - Bernier

OR

Kovalchuk - Zajac - Zubrus
Elias - Henrique - Clarkson
Brule - Josefson - Butler/Tedenby
Carter - Gionta - Bernier

Could be worse.

15+ goals and 35+ points would be something reasonable potentially and that would be some bang for our buck.

Don't understand? The Devils sign a fringe player to a two way contract...did you predict this? I just don't understand your post when you said "What did tell you..."

as getzo said earlier, nothing but competition for tedenby so that we don't just have to give a spot to teddy even if he doesn't earn it. he could probably do okay on a line with yayo and zubrus, but not calrkson, because then yayo would be the only one on the line that can defend.

we still have another spot available, imo. i wouldn't count on butler as a full time player right now.

i'll take that bet because there is absolutely zero chance he scores more than parise.

So Spezza basically taught him everything he knows?

Yes. He's been predicting that the Devils would sign Butler for quite some time.

Oh. I remember a few people predicting the Devs would sign BB and he was one..

But yeah, it's not quite on par with someone who would've predicted something like the Weber offersheet.

At any rate, I like the low-risk move. More competition in camp is never a bad thing and he'll have all the motivation in the world to work hard this offseason to crack the lineup. Definitely 20+ goal potential there...
