Rory MacDonald out vs BJ with a bad cut. No clue if BJ stays on card. Also Cung/Franklin is main event in China.

I think Boetsch/Weidman will be lined up then.

Bummer. Interesting to see what they do with BJ.

Also;

Ariel Helwani @arielhelwani
JDS told Dana yesterday he has respect for Cain but he doesn't wanna fight him, wants to KO Overeem because he has been acting like a "punk"

Does a win over Boetsch convince the Silva camp that Weidman is worthy of fighting him though? I dunno, maybe if Weidman destroys Boetsch.

I like Dana's offhand suggestion of Rashad fighting Weidman if he moves to 185, winner gets the next title shot.

That sucks. I was looking forward to that fight.

I have no idea what Overeem said about JDS but I guess he's taking a page out of Nick Diaz's book and it might pay off for him. I hope Dana doesn't go for it though. I'm a big Overeem fan and want him to fight for the title but he won't be ready for a while. It would be stupid to keep JDS out until January just because he wants to fight Overeem.

Koscheck out of his fight against Ellenberger at 151. BJ, don't want to wait for Rory?

Jay Hieron back in the UFC to replace Kos

Interesting fight because Hieron has a win over Ellenberger.

This seems to me like Chael is hinting at a fight with Wanderlei:

I would guess Rashad or someone else who is generally a 205er. Why else do it at a catchweight?

The fight is fine, but it is weak as a co-main. Plus they have zero other interesting fights on that card. They need another top tier fight on that card and it seems unlikely to happen at this point. Piss-poor effort by the UFC to surround an exciting main event with anything at all. Was thinking about heading to Vegas for the card, but it seems safe to skip the entire thing until Hendo and Jones hit the cage.

I don't care about him enough to cut to 185.
That could mean it's someone in the MW division but they would fight at catchweight instead.

I think Wanderlei is a good guess. Vitor is another guy Chael has had issues with but he has a fight coming up.

I read it as they were offering him a fight at middleweight but he doesn't care enough to cut to 185.

Which makes no sense to me, because for all of his stupid BS he spews he is still a professional. A catchweight fight means he's fighting a 205er dropping IMO. If I'm wrong then so be it, but having him fight a 185er at a catchweight is extremely rare for the UFC unless he is fighting something on short notice.

I'm also going to take a really far off guess with who I think he's fighting. It has to be a guy who fights in the 185-205 range, and someone he's either had beef with or lost to before. Sounds like Babalu to me? I was thinking Lil Nog too.

Yea, that's how I read it as well. My guess would be a 205'er that has been fighting at 185 of late, Wanderlei and Belfort being the two that jump out the most. Could be calling out Matt Serra as well, he's probably around the 200lb mark at this point.

Haha, he actually enjoyed some recently at Chael's restaurant in the mean streets of West Linn.

Belfort already has a fight lined up. Wanderei would make some sense, except that there is no reason for that fight to be at anything other than 185.

I can think of one, that being Chael could have a hard time making 185. He looked rough at the weigh-in for the Silva fight, I know about the Dolce diet and all that stuff but it looked like making weight took a bit out of him. And he's 35, maybe he doesn't want to cut weight like that anymore. Just a theory.

Great, then start fighting at 205 then. Don't see what fighting a 185er at a higher weight accomplishes for anyone.

He had to lose 20 lbs in one day to make weight for his last fight so that makes sense.

I think it would have to Wanderlei, if it is, they can either fight at Franklinweight or Rumbleweight

Well for one, Wanderlei is just as much of a 205'er as he is a MW, so that's a pretty pointless statement.

For all we know this is just Chael trolling us.

That's how the Dolce diet works though. Get's you high on water weight and you more or less piss it out the day of the weigh-ins.

Both guys have been fighting at 185 for awhile. When was the last time BOTH fighters went up to a catchweight for a fight that wasn't short notice? Has it ever happened in the UFC? That's the whole point of a catchweight, so that two different weight class guys meet in the middle.

Anyways, no big deal. I'd rather see Sonnen fight a real 205lb guy but I'll see what happens.
