No big deal. I was pretty sure he was a RW, but I had to look it up to be sure haha

Normally, i'm with you on the unused cap space is an unused weapon bandwagon, and Doan's great for 7 mil this year. It's not so much the $$$'s, but the length.

But next years UFA crop is alot more impressive (granted, some/most of those guys will resign), and odds are a few out of Corey Perry, getzlaf, Burrows, Weiss, Scott Hartnell, Filppulla will make it to FA. I'm not sure having 7 mil tied down in a guy who's probably about a 20g-25a grinder who's getting older is wise when 7 mil a year probably lands you one of the above.

I don't see any possible way that 7X4yrs for Doan doesn't come back to bite you in the arse at one point.

It might but its yet another move that other teams that are in a "Cup window" make that we notoriously wouldnt do..

we NEED Doan for the next two years.... he would definitely help make us Cup contenders... and if the price of getting Doan for two years is to pay him for four... well, like Lt Aldo Raine... you make that deal...

ps, the main reason you make the deal rather than saving money for next summer is how many of those UFA's would even consider coming to Nashville regardless of the money... fpr most of them we'd likely have to overpay even more on both dollars and years...

I would love the player and hate the contract, but we're not a cap ceiling team anyway. That means that at least it wouldn't handcuff the Preds from a cap standpoint, it would simply be a big overpayment.

Looks like the chances of landing Doan dropped somewhat with news that Jamison has more investors.

will be interesting to see if Doan will go past Sept 15 without a contract.

I dont think there is any way the phoenix ownership situation will be definitively settled by then, and so you have to wonder whether Doan would sign a one year deal to stay in Phoenix but not tie himself down if the team moves next summer, or whether, at his age, he sees a 4 year deal for really good money at a place he is comfortable as the better option...

I suspect the longer he's been looking at options to leave Phoenix, the more comfortable he's getting with the idea...

Just reading his tweets and the fact that he has less than 500 followers signals to me that this guy is BS. Whizwitsports.com?

That would not meet the criteria for a legitimate source on HFBoards. A list of recognized sources can be found in the stickies at the top of the "Trades" board or you can always PM a moderator if you have a question about the legitimacy of a source.

It certainly won't be any less than the $4.2 he's been making.

Generally if I see someone make "confirm" or "confirmed" into a hashtag they immediately go into the dumpster.

I dunno. He's not nearly ugly-looking enough to pull that off.

Eh, i dunno. I could see him signing for less for more term and he doesn't want to leave his wife. I think he takes less than the 4.2 that hes currently making.

Fisher can get 5-5.5 if he wants it, no problem

Only one at 7 million, but a bunch pretty close:

Backstrom - 6 mil
Kipper - 6
Quick - 7
Luongo - 6.7
Bryz - 6.5, then 8 mil the year after
Price - 6.5
Miller - 6.25
Lundqvist - 6.875
Ward - 6.4

Alot of these were signed long ago. I think Rinne's deal is very fair, just no cap circumvention years added on.

Yup.

Quick's contract is exactly the same as Rinne's, just with extra circumvention years added on.

Lundqvist makes $6.875 and that contract was signed in early 2008! If he was up for contract renewal this summer like Rinne was, we'd be looking at way more than $6.875M.

Price just signed a contract worth $6.5M. I'd say the difference between Rinne and Price is way more than $0.5M.

Rinne is one of the best goalies in the world. Why shouldn't he be paid like he is? He makes exactly what he should be making.

Hey Preds fans! I dont know if this is the right place to ask this question, if not I apologize. Where do you see Roman Josi placing himself on your blue line in terms of depth, as in will he be a future #1 Dman alongside Weber or play more of a 2nd-3rd pairing? And on that note, who would you rather choose in a fantasy league (G, A, P, PPP, +/-, PIM, SOG, HIT, BLK scoring) Josi, Blum or Klein.

Again sorry if this is the wrong place but I am really stumped on this and thought you Preds fans would know best. Thank you so much!

josi is pretty much a lock to be playing top pair with shea weber.. unless we make a move and upgrade our top 4.. doubtful imo and still see josi with weber. klein's partner is TBD .. could be jon blum. that alone makes it an easy choice... roman josi all day before klein. then blum after that.. blum could bounce back this season but too much uncertainty with him. josi, klein, blum.

i think josi should be good for 30+ points with a rather solid +/- playing with weber.. only concern from me would be durability. i take josi and dont even stop to think twice...

and stop by any time. go preds, go devils

Thank you so much, I went with Josi after all and am pretty happy. Hopefully he can stay healthy this season, he's going to be a real solid player for you guys!

And thank you for the hospitality I've always had a soft spot for the Preds and this offseason has brought me even closer with you folks.
