Arnott is not ready to step back accepting a defensive 4th line role with limited minutes yet. They would have to grossly overpay to get him.

I think we nees still one or two winger with shot power and gritty and one defender with gritty and if he have offensive skills its more better.

Everybody is talking about depht in our roster, what depht? We lose in this summer JVR and Jagr and Carle... There was lot of offensive talent, we get few secondaru players and one shutdown defender...

I don't actually expect Doan to get that much money. He may get 6, MAYBE 6.5 from a team desperately needing leadership/grit/to reach the cap floor, but not 7.5.

Just a logjam of bottom pairing defencemen, really hoping they give Gus or Manning a shot over someone like Lilja.

One advantage to the log jam in the 5th/6th position is that if one screws up, there's a lot of people to take their place.

Except you can't carry 25 guys on a roster, and we need 13th and 14th forwards [Sestito/Z and Jody Shelley]. Not to mention Lilja's 35+ contract counts towards the cap even in the AHL, although it could free up a roster spot if down there.

This is my optimistic lineup. I understand Laughton will probably go back to juniors, but I think he could embrace a defensive role much like Couturier did (not that he is Couturier, but at least try him for 9 games). I really would like to see Manning/Gus to start out. This is assuming MAB is still having injury problems and they would like to rest him a bit. I think the size of Manning will help Gus as he moves up ice...

Just how I think it should be.

I am fine with the Flyers going this route, but I would fully expect some growing pains. I'm just not sure the fanbase could stand the type of step backwards (in the short term) this could represent for the long term gain of it.

I like it. But Laughton would REALLY have to shine IMO to stay past 9 games. Otherwise I completely support him getting at most 9.

I don't think Lilija will be sent down unless he is awful in the first part of the season.

How does it look disappointing? Replace Gus/Manning with Mezsaros in Jan. and it's still disappointing? Look at the defensive combos around the league... the Flyers are far from the worst. Also you are assuming Gus and Manning will suck. It's hard to suck when you are getting those limited minutes, I think they will be fine...

Not to mention Luke Schenn AKA the x factor!

People also forget, if the defense is completely terrible beyond belief 20 games in, which I do not at all think it will be. Homer can make a trade, sign a free agent. We're in a tight spot yes, but homer is a genius.

I like it. But if the wings on the third line are small. Would rather swap Read with Simmonds or Voracek. But, I think Voracek will get a lot of time on Giroux's line early on to see if they have chemistry

Edit: thought you had wellwood on couts line.

The only reason I put Fedotenko on the third line is for the exact reason you stated. A third line is generally the most physical and defensive for a team. Although Wellwood is a good fit with Read and Couturier, that lime would be pushed around way too much

Looking at the D, I really hope I'm right about Gus. Otherwise the 3rd pairing is going to kill this team.

I like this lineup mostly id switch wellwood and fedetenko. Also, I would pair Gus with Grossman probably abd Coburn with Gervais. I like the Hartnell-Giroux-Briere line, as I do not think Voracek and Giroux is a great combo, as they are both playmakers (plus Voracek has below-average shot). In addition, I think Briere is better suited at the wing anyway and has a great shot, which could translate into 35+ goals playing with Giroux/first line minutes.

That 3rd line is going to be something we have really missed lately, so stoked to see that line in action

*I would love to get one top 6/9 winger who is shoot first mental and is gritty and physical..

** Give now the icetime for our young defenders. Now is the time. We never going to development and see them with 10minute icetime enough to get idea of their promising talent.

*** There is lot of space to get the winger and still space to acquire defender or two at deadline if nessery.
