I know its scary. Give him another 2-3 years of playing with some bigger boys to toughen up. We just might have one of the most dynamic Defenses in the league. Well...we have the POTENTIAL to...

Some tweets about Mike Reilly at the Team USA U20 camp/tournament:

Quote:
Brendan Ross ‏@RossyYoungblood

Seems that everyone in attendance at #usahockey #NEJC has been impressed with @BlueJacketsNHL prospect Mike Reilly (D). Get him on ur radar

https://twitter.com/RossyYoungblood/...54813216485378

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters

End-to-end rush by Mike Reilly leads to a goal as he dishes to a wide-open Gaudreau who puts it past Lundstrom's glove. Pretty 2-1 USA #NJEC
https://twitter.com/chrismpeters/sta...63162568810496

Joe Yerdon ‏@JoeYerdonPHT

USA with some showtime action as Mike Reilly looked right and passed left to Johnny Gaudreau for the PPG. Magic Mike Reilly?

https://twitter.com/JoeYerdonPHT/sta...63188992937984

Reilly was paired with Seth Jones on the 1st defensive pairing for Team USA

From the article: Dansk sustained a minor knee injury in Tuesday's game against Finland and won't play against USA. Maybe that's the reason USA won the game 10-2 over Sweden. Alexander Wennberg, a center projected to go in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft, was dressed as the emergency backup goaltender.

Phil Housley is gonna be the coach for the 2012-13 U.S. National Junior Team. They couldn't choose a better coach for a young offensive d-men like Reilly. Also if you look at his assistants:
Quote:
He is assisted by Mark Osiecki (Columbus, Ohio), head men's ice hockey coach at Ohio State University and Grant Potulny (Minneapolis, Minn.), assistant men's ice hockey coach at the University of Minnesota ... Greg Brown (Scituate, Mass.), assistant men's ice hockey coach coach at Boston College, Joe Exter (Columbus, Ohio), assistant men's ice hockey coach at Ohio State University...
They inveted 2 coaches from Columbus. Looks like a perfect combination for Reilly's development.

Obviously this is all a Tupac-style hologram. We all know that Columbus can't find anyone in the draft who impresses anyone, particularly in the later rounds.

Yeah, I missed that part.

Another tweets on Reilly after tonight's game:

Quote:
Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters
He ended up with two and once again looked dynamic offensively throughout the game #NJEC RT @CBJProspects just the assist for Reilly so far?

College Hockey News @chnews
@chrismpeters he made a no look pass to set up Gaudreau

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters
@chnews yes he did, after an end to end rush.

@MitchHegre Pietila has been great in a fourth-line type role. Reilly has been excellent, Skjei solid, Boyd has excelled as 2-way C.
https://twitter.com/chrismpeters/sta...10305530744834
Especially I like the last tweet. Seems like even in Minnesota we won't go away from comparisons to the Rangers organisation. Brady Skjei is the NYR 1st round pick from 2 years ago and next year they will be teammates with Reilly in Minnesota, probably fighting each other for the ice-time. Our 4rd rounder has been excellent and their 1st rounder just solid.

More for the Reilly hype machine from the USA Hockey recap of USA's 10-2 win over Sweden:

"Mike Reilly — Dynamic. If there was one word I could use to describe Reilly, it’s that. He had a pair of assists today, including the beauty of a no-look feed off the end-to-end rush to put Gaudreau in a position to score. I’ve been following the WJC really closely for the last five years and I can’t really recall a defenseman on a U.S. team that has the offensive skill-set of Reilly. There’s speed, there’s puck skills, there’s the shot. Now Reilly has a few deficiencies in his own zone, but to have a weapon like him on the back end has got to be nice, especially for Phil Housley who was known to freelance a little bit himself."

Not to be a pessimist, but I'm going to be one anyway. Let's say he tears it up at the WJC and plays really well at Minnesota, I wonder if we could have a Schultz situation on our hands. Reilly is not signed to an ELC, and he's a 4th-round pick, we hold his rights until he decides to leave college, but it makes me wonder.

So Korpisalo is now the 3rd goalie for Jokerit... why the hell did he go back?

I wouldn't quite call that pessimism Ė more like paranoia. The Schultz and Wheeler mentality comes along so infrequently that it honestly shouldn't even come to mind. I remember when people were accusing Matt Calvert of holding out on us because he wanted to play in the Memorial Cup in his hometown, and we all know what actually happened afterward. I expect Reilly to be no different than 99% of prospects as far as commitment goes.

Jokerit is a very popular, successful team in the Finnish league (it's in Helsinki) and has a history of developing goalies.

The Prince George Cougars are...?

Jokerit playing their first pre-season game against their "farm team" Kiekko-Vantaa, Korpisalo playing the latter half of the game. Already made an impressive pad save on a breakaway.

Edit: kept a clean sheet, Jokerit won 3-0.

Korpisalo has a good 5 or 6 years of development to go before he reaches the NHL. Literally have no worries about how much he plays this year, as long as he's learning.

With Hetenyi leaving to AHL, that puts him at either #2 or #3 goalie, which means he's guaranteed to play against men, in either SM-liiga or at Mestis (Tier 2) with the "farm team" Kiekko-Vantaa.

He would have faced plenty of shots in PG ... maybe that would have been better for his development...?

Not sure if a shooting gallery is ever good for goalie development.

Is anyone watching the 2012 Super Series? Murray and Jenner are playing for Canada, both are pointless so far. Murray was the team Canada captain in the first 2 games.

I mentioned it and provided a link over on the 2013 NHL draft thread. I don't know why I didn't post it here

On the main boards I found a couple links to view the games online on demand:
http://watch.tsn.ca/hockey-canada-ev...llenge-game-1/
http://watch.tsn.ca/hockey-canada-ev...llenge-game-2/

They play in Anisimov's hometown Yaroslavl.
