Anaheim : Brett Perlini (2010), Ryan Hegarty (2008)
Boston : Nicholas Tremblay (2008)

Chicago : *David Toews (2008)
Columbus : Trent Vogelhuber (2007)
Dallas : Mike Bergin (2008), Nico Sacchetti (2007)
Detroit : Julien Cayer (2008)
Florida : John Lee (2007)
Minnesota : Chris Hickey (2006)

St-Louis : Trevor Nill (2007)
Tampa Bay : Matt Marshall (2007)
Toronto : Grant Rollheiser (2008)
Vancouver : Taylor Matson (2007)
Washington : *Taylor Stefishen (2008)
Winnipeg : Daulton Leveille (2008)

*Fienhage, Toews and Stefishen are special cases because they left college before their graduation without signing an NHL contract. This is the rule : If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft, and does not remain a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain exclusive rights for the negotiation of his services until the fourth June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft.

Also, it's worth mentioning that Daulton Leveille was a first round pick. If he goes unsigned, Winnipeg will receive a 2nd round pick as a compensation.
I'm assuming Taylor Matson won't be signed by the Canucks just yet. Maybe later in the year or next year but he will still stay within the organization for now. The Chicago Wolves signed him to an AHL deal a few days ago

Matson is similar to Sean Lorenz but different AHL signing dates. Lorenz was drafted in 2008 by the Wild and just completed four years playing at Notre Dame. He signed an ATO contract in March with Houston and a professional contract with that AHL team for the 2012-13 season.

Forgot Sean Lorenz on my list. Hopefully, that's the only one I forgot.

I'm aware that Lorenz, Matson and Vogelhuber have all signed AHL contracts but technically they'll become UFAs. However, it's safe to say that they likely won't sign an NHL contract before August 15.

Doing a quick look up, it seems that this pick was part of the trade with the Penguins for Hossa back in 2008.

Nick Larson (the one born on 1/16/1989) was drafted by the Capitals in 2007 after playing for Omaha (USHL). In 2007-08, he attended the University of Minnesota but did not play due to injury.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/nick_larson/

He attended the University of Minnesota for 5 years and he just finished his fourth season playing hockey. In February 2012, he said that he had finished up his academic requirements for his major and is working on finishing up his minor.

http://www.gophersports.com/blog/201...ck-larson.html

He may have needed to be signed last year. It all depends on how colleges determine their class. He could have entered the University as a non-degree-deeking student in 2007-08 and then was formally admitted in the Fall 2008. Anyway, it won't make a difference after Wednesday.

CBA - 8.6(c)(ii). If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19, who had received a Bona Fide Offer becomes a bona fide college student prior to the second June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft and remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive rights of negotiation for his services through and including the August 15 following the graduation of his college class.

Stefishen left Ohio State to play in the WHL for a year. I don't think it makes a difference that he went back and is playing for another college.

If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft, and does not remain a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain exclusive rights for the negotiation of his services until the fourth June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft.

didnt even happen last year. Me thinks its the lockout. With talks of ELCs lasting 5 years, players want them signed now and with talks of higher salaries sine 2 years are added, GMs would rather have the lowered cap hit seeing how if theres a lockout these players could have dominating years in junior and command a lot more than they can ask for now

Another day, another 2012 first round pick signing a contract.

Quote:
The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Stefan Matteau, the club’s first choice, and 29th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, to an entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Quote:
Matteau, 18, joins the Devils’ organization after spending the past two seasons with the United States Development Program. Earlier this month, he attended USA Hockey’s Under-20 Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, NY. The 6-2, 215-lb. forward skated in 46 games for the under-18 squad in 2011-12, recording 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points and a team-leading 166 penalty minutes. He played for Team USA’s under-17 team in 2010-11, posting seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points and 65 penalty minutes.

Should Corey Trivino (NYI), Travis Erstad (STL), Andrew Glass (WSH) & Vinny Saponari (WPG) have been on this list?

Saponari was drafted in '08. Joined Boston U for the next year, spent his 3rd year in the USHL before returning to college at Northeastern.

Glass stayed another year in high school after being drafted in 2007. He then went to Boston U for 3 years and spent last year at Carleton U in the CIS.

Erstad was drafted in '07, spent following year in USHL, then went to College. He didn't play in 2010/11 but returned to Wisconsin Stevens point last season.

Trivino just finished his 4th year at College after being drafted in '08

This list was for players that needed to be signed by August 15.

Just because Trivino had hockey stats in his 4th year doesn't mean he "finished his 4th year". He played during the fall semester of his fourth year but was kicked off the team in December. The link says that he was "no longer enrolled" [for his senior spring semester].

http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/...ckey_play.html

The rule as stated in the post above says, "...A Player...does not remain a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain exclusive rights for the negotiation of his services until the fourth June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft."

In Saponari's case, he left college to play in the USHL. See rule above.

Maybe Erstad should be on the August 15, 2013, list because he missed the 2010-11 due to injury. I think the CBA may say the player has to remain with his graduating class but it could be really dependent on college eligibility. Maybe if Erstad stayed in college while injured, he can play hockey as a 5th year student or graduate. I'm not sure.

Andrew Glass was dismissed from Boston University in December 2010. Once that happened (in the middle of an academic year), he was no longer a bona fide college student (i.e., didn't attend in the Spring 2011 semester) no matter if he transferred to another college. See rule above.

Per Capgeek, restricted free agent goalie Eddie Lack has signed a 2-year contract with Vancouver. The first year of the deal is 2-way ($650K/$85K) and the second year is 1-way ($850K). Cap hit is $750K.

Looks like Phoenix has signed/will sign Jordan Martinook.

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Lucas Lessio to an entry-level contract.
Quote:
Lessio was selected by the Coyotes in the second round (56th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
http://coyotes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=640933

Good signing by Phoenix, I thought Lessio was the best player on Canada's team during the Canada-Russia series.

Coyotes also confirmed the Martinook signing up above.
