Muse usually fail when they try to make stuff like that. Should've stuck to Our Time Is Running Out type of tracks. I also don't like that vocal chorus thing and Bellamy's singing really doesn't seem to match the song. The only song I've heard from recent times where that chorus sounded good was The Age of The Understatement in that project by the Arctic Monkeys singer.
It's a decent song on it's now although strange for the Olympics....should've used The Starting Line from the new Keane album, sound matches better and lyrics aren't as lame.
The teaser video is alright. Not really surprised with the song, simply because the dubstep part sounds like that midi modifier thingy Matt has on his Manson guitar. As far as the olympic song? I can only hope it doesn't make the album. I think what frustrated me about it is that it's not even like they are writing bad songs. They aren't even TRYING to write songs like those from Absolution and Origin. Can't even say they have lost it, because they seem to want to move away from that type of sound. Pity really, since they can rip.
If that's the only part of the album they're using dubstep then I can live with it. It's fine if it's only on one or two tracks as long as the rest is decent.
Muse imo have never made a truly high end album. They're big because of their live skills and some great singles. So as long as this has 3-4 good single type tracks plus a few decent album ones then I'll be happy.
Where's the singing in Unsustainable? Ugh, I am not feeling these first 2 songs released (I like bits and pieces of each song but as a whole I am not buzzing in excitement) and Muse is my second favourite band.
