I'll take "Massively overloaded at center" for $1,000 Alex.
Detroit would have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Filppula at Center, plus Helm, and possibly Jarnkrok if he makes the jump next season.
Adding Getzlaf would give us four top six quality centers (Zetterberg is a wing but has been playing center for a long time now) and another one potentially in the making.
Yeah they are natural centers, but Z has played wing with pavs, and flip played wing this year, so it would work out in the end, I'm sure they would fit somewhere hehe
Perry:
Nucks- Won't go unless kessler and burrows is gone.
Flyers- Could sign, fits there type.
Leafs- Close to his hometown and his summer house.
Sens- Close to hometown
NYR- Gets to play with his good friend, Nash.
People actually think they would come to Toronto? As far as I know they both enjoy playing away from hockey hotbeds like Toronto and would much prefer vacationing in the city's surrounding areas than actually playing here (imo). I don't think Getzlaf makes it to UFA either. Perry may test but I suspect he would stay in Anaheim, with Getzlaf (once he's locked up).
Getzlaf was almost giddy in interviews after Carlyle got fired in Anaheim. I can't see him wanting to play in Toronto as long as Carlyle is coach there.

That may be true but FWIW, Carlyle had done some soul searching during his time away from coaching to become more 'player friendly'. One of the first things he did was patch up his relationship with Joffrey Lupul after Lupul made a comment about how Carlyle misused him in Anaheim (not trying him at LW).
Quote:
“Lupes made a comment . . . that I didn’t use him correctly in Anaheim. And he was right. I made the mistake at that time,” Carlyle said. “I take responsibility for that. I’ve talked to Joffrey Lupul about it. That is water under the bridge. He’s a top-six forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He’s having a career year. And good for him.”
IF I were an NHL player I'd sign with Florida or Tampa as a UFA...tan year round.
*San Jose too
Silicon Valley is pretty overcast from October to March. It's warm enough to ride a motorcycle year round but you are not going to Santa Cruz to tan on days off in December.
Caps would appear to be in the market for one or both by taking Ribiero for a one-year deal and opting not to resign Semin. With expiring contracts for Brouwer, Hamerlik, Poti, and a few others, they'll probably have $18-20M in cap space after resigning Carlson, Alzner, and other RFAs.
There's no way that they go to Toronto. Neither of them really like the media attention and neither of them like Carlyle as a coach. Also, I can't see Leafs being any better team than Ducks so why would they want to sign there?
They both stay in Anaheim...but if they leave I think St. Louis would be a great fit. The Blues could fairly easily make the cap space and their team is built with guys like Perry and Getzlaf...they would be brutal to play against.

Nope. They would be perfect fits, but they are not allowed to play in the Central. I won't let them
I'd say there's about a 0.01% chance Getzlaf leaves Anaheim, no team needs his services more at this point and I don't think he has any reason to leave. His wife is from there. I'm sure he loves the year-round SoCal sun.
Perry is a different story IMO, there are a few teams that I could see trying to trade for him, then extend him this year. The Penguins, Flyers and Blues seem like likely destinations. A gritty goal-scoring power forward who can throw the body around would be the perfect line mate for Crosby or Giroux, plus the Blues really lack an elite offensive talent and Perry could really put that team over the top. Backes and Perry on a line would be a nightmare to play against.
