Come on man. You are witnessing history.

This is like Germany beating Canada for gold. You gotta respect.

Not really, Mexico's one of the best young teams around. Last year they won the U17 and came third in the U20. Plus Brazil has a long history of not giving a **** in the Olympics.

Oh no, I give full credit to Mexico for putting away their chances and frustrating Brazil. But it isn't an upset of massive proportions, quite a few people had pegged the Mexicans to come out on top because they are a great young team.

Emphasizing on medal count is just putting a positive spin on a disappointing Olympics for Canada. We didn't have any problem shoving the gold medal count in the American's faces during Vancouver 2010. 1976 was the last time team Canada took home less than 3 golds. I'm not disappointed in the individual athlete's for 'only' winning bronze or silver, I'm just disappointed in Canada's overall gold medal haul.
Technically, the IOC doesn't rank countries at all and have consistently reiterated that tabulating gold medals is completely arbitrary.

I'm pretty sure the rankings they release today owe themselves to media pressure back in the 90s (Atlanta?), and before then the IOC didn't even keep count of total medals won.

Brazil isn't what it once was.

Aside from Alves and maybe Ramires, this is the team we'll see at the World Cup. No way are they able to beat the European giants with how they've looked at the Olympics and the Copa America.

Ok, now it is a bit disappointing.
All the pre-games favorites have fallen.
Probably going to be just that one gold now.

Bolt keeps making everyone else look slow, even against the fastest in the world, it's insane.

Good job Canada too.

If Canada actually did make an illegal change or left their lane, it's hardly getting screwed, it's screwing up.

Yeah, that's a big no no. Heartbreaking nevertheless, we've been teased too much in these Olympics.

Well that certainly is a fitting end to this olympics for Canada. Close but just now quite good enough. Still good to see lots of strong performances and like I said earlier with a little increased funding for the stronger athletes we'd probably hit the podium more.

I agree Carl. Canadian athletes just don't get the support they deserve and it shows every Olympics.

We are appealing the DQ, it's now in the hands of the jury.

Was an obvious DQ, but there is nothing to lose at this point. Good decision.

Ruling on appeal will come in next 15 minutes. Canada is arguing there was no advantaged gained in one step on line.
