The U18 World Championship is the most important part of the U18 season for ČSLH, since its played during CHL play-offs and therefore chances that CHL players will be available to play there are lower therefore ČSLH concentrates on players who will be playing in Europe and therefore they know that they will be available for the U18 IHWC during the season. Though of course it doesnt mean that the best players from CHL wont be nominated for the U18 WC if available.

Also Martin Kohout, Jakub Vrna and David Pastrňk are missing from the nomination because of injuries.

Probably top three forwards who will play in Europe this season.
Plus team is missing another key players in Kostalek, Zdrahal, Kubalik and Nemecek.
I expect this Czech team finishing last in his group competing for 7th place with Switzerland at Hlinka.

The U18 team just beat Canada 6-4 in exhibition play. Pretty shocking result all things considered.

I'm not sure if it will have any impact on results, but I don't see it as a problem. Everybody still has choice what to do. Sure if they stay in CZE during their draft year, it can hurt them on the draft, but recent years show that those prospects who really are worth a pick have no problem to be drafted as overagers 1 year later.

+1 CSLH has made a good decision here.

How good of a prospect is '97 forward Pavel Zacha? He's off to a very nice start for a player his age in the Czech U20 league and seems to already be a leader playing up with the Czech U17 national team.

Its still early but I would say great size, good shot and hockey sense, only decent skills, not that naturally skilled. Offensive upside limited in my opinion. Maybe third liner in NHL, maybe only good player in Europe.

Since Karjala Cup is getting closer.. what would your team look like?

I'd be satisfied with this roster (I don't think NHLers will be there):

Goalies:

Tomas Ppperle
Alexander Salak
Jan Chabera

Defensemen:

Ondrej Nemec
Jakub Nakladal
Filip Novak
Marek Troncinsky
Petr Caslava
Petr Zamorsky
Josef Hrabal
Jan Kolar

Forwards:

Jakub Petruzalek
Petr Prucha
Jakub Klepis
Jiri Novotny
Michal Vondrka
Petr Koukal
Tomas Rolinek
Radek Smolenak
Petr Hubacek
Martin Ruzicka
Jakub Svoboda
Jan Kovar
Antonin Honejsek
Dominik Pacovsky

then there are some young players I would consider: Hertl, Kousal, Holik, Pribyl, Jerabek etc.

Maybe I forgot someone.
Any thoughts?

why do you think players like Tlusty, Frolik, Sobotka don't want play there? ... it's perfect tournament for them to show off... they can't be tired etc.

I did it without them because who knows what it's gonna be like in two weeks. Otherwise sure, I'd definately take them. Especially these three you mentioned.

I read that Viktor Ujčk just retired today. I think he is a legend worth mentioning. One of my favourite NT players.

Hey guys, I've been wondering for a while now that why Ivan Huml hasn't been selected to Czech NT for ET since '08? I mean that he's been a beast here in Oulu and it would be nice to have some recognition for his games.

Thanks

- Stoat

I dont know. Sport speaks about Jandač. I think it doesnt matter really. I say that any ELH assistant would be good enough for these results we had at the Olympics. Lets just get rid of Hadamczik ASAP. I dont believe any other respectable coach would do worse job at this point.
