Canucks players in case of a lockout

With the possibly impending lockout, and the Luongo and Doan threads having gone in circles for months. I thought we might as well speculate on something else, where we guess that Canucks players will play, or not play, in case of a lockout.

The AHL:
The AHL has limits on veteran players. The current rule applies.

Quote:
Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a regular-season game, at least 13 must be qualified as "development players." Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL, IHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season.
All of our prospects currently in the AHL will of course play there.

Of players on the NHL roster last year that will count as development players are:

Zack Kassian
Chris Tanev
Aaron Volpatti
Dale Weise
Steve Pinizzotti (N.B. both Pinizzotti and Weise have played more than 260 but fewer than 320, so they wouldn't be able to play on the same AHL team)

Europe:
Word is that SEL is gonna make a rule limiting the amount of NHL players per team in case of a lockout, I would not be surprised to see other leagues make a similar rule.

The Sedins, I would not be surprised if they already have a verbal agreement with Näslund and Forsberg about playing in Modo if there is a lockout. I could see them being on the first plane to Sweden after 15/9, if they aren't already there.

Jannik Hansen, I would not be surprised to see Hansen playing in Sweden if there is a lockout. I would have guessed Malmö if they played in SEL since he has a connection there, and it's close to home for him. If I had to make a guess I'd say Rögle because of the location, but it could be any team.

Alexander Edler, same as Hansen applies here. I don't know what teams he could be playing for, probably all of them will be interested.

Nicklas Jensen will play in Sweden for AIK, no doubt about that.

Other players that I would be surprised to see go to Europe fast, but that I'm no where certain about are guys like Ebbett, Lappiere and Higgins.

Speculate away!

Daniel, henrik, and Edler going to play for Modo

Can be brand new first chain
For MoDo part, it may mean that the team gets into a lot first five.
- It is primarily our own guys we think about. It's Tobias Enstrom and Victor Hedman on the hill, and of course the twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin . Alexander Steen we see as a Modo guy now even though he has been all over the place. In addition, although Alexander Edler played in Modo.
Will you make room for all these players?
- Yes, I think. Is it that the interest is there, it would surely be strange if we do not place.

of course there is no contract but it seem most likely

Totally forgot that Edler spent a year in Modo after getting drafted, thought he went straight to the CHL. That would make it likely that he signs in Modo.

If there's another lockout then this league doesn't deserve to have the fans come back.

You gonna beat all the owners up to? You do realize he's just a puppet for them? Bettman has made the owners a ton of money over the years and if it helps the owners he will shut down the league for another year. The fans might be pissed and not attend games for awhile but they will come back they always do. This is just a business for the owners and there in it to make money they don't care about the fans feelings only want their money. There is no way season starts on time we'll be lucky if it starts in Jan. The owners will not give in it's on the players to.

There won't be a lockout.

The last one was because of colliding principles. Players didn't want a cap, owners did. Eventually the owners won.

Now they're just quibbling about numbers. They'll find a middle ground and be ready in September.

Personally I think there will be a lockout, but it's going to be a short one. We could lose a month or two but hockey should still be underway by around January, much like the 94-95 season.

Not sure how this effects players going to Europe, would be tough for teams over there to stack their rosters with NHL players for a couple of months then simply lose them mid season.

I have awesome tickets and don't want a lockout at all - even if I didn't have a single ticket, I still wouldn't want the league to miss any games.

Paging Wetcoaster! (I have no idea what kind of lawyer Wet is though)

Our European players will certainly go play in Europe, but I'm curious to see where guys like Kesler (if healthy), Booth, Burrows, etc go. It would be nice (though a pipe dream) to see them all play together.

If there's another lockout, MLS will easily pass the NHL to be the 4th biggest league in NA. I would jump to MLS too
