France are doing an amazing job tying up the Swedish attackers, especially Andersson and Ekdahl.

They have to take out Narcisse or they'll lose this game. And Kim Andersson has to start taking more shots, he has such good left arm.

And these refs are so supporting France. Sad.

Oh, this isnt obvious at all. France should give the referees a big thanks for the gold if they end up winning. So pathetic I dont even...

And you still got a free 2 minutes to close out the game and yet was still unable to come back.

Fully deserved. Double olympic champs and double WC champs currently.
Not too bad.

Me too, they've exceeded everyone's expectations. But I can't be entirely happy for the silver, knowing that the refs helped France get the gold. It will pass in a few hours, and I'll be happy then, but right now I just can't get over the French diving and the absolutely awful referees.

The boys did more than anybody could have asked, though, and I'm proud of every single player on the team!

(Oh, and what the hell was the deal with the refs needing to dry off the floor all the freaking time? I understand that it gets slippery and all, but that was just ridiculous!)

France successfully defend handball title, won by Thierry Henry against Ireland.

Losing 1 point to maybe the best team in handball history, without Doder and a banged up Källman. Not too shabby.

is it me, or does it seem like every handball game is decided by 1 goal?

The best team in history has not played in a long while.

Anyways, the refs were kinda meh, but France was better, no questions asked.

90s Sweden was great, early 2000 Croatia was great, but this french team has won everything, they have 2 former ihf handballer of the year players on the team and is the first team to defend an olympic gold. I don't think it's unfair to call them the greatest team ever, but they may be on their swansong if several of them retires. Meanwhile Kim Andersson, Källman and Jernemyr have said this is it for them so that sets Sweden ten years back. Andersson is one of the best in the world right now but we're never going to see him at that level again. That just sucks.

3 : Karabatic, Omeyer and Gilles. That's not counting guys like Narcisse, Abalo and many top top level players.

As said previously in this thread, Ivano Balic, who knows a thing or two about handball told Onesta two days ago that this was the best team ever.

While they have won everything, the 90s had way more top heavy teams, making it more impressive to dominate that era. (Means: The teams back in the day were better, not that there were more good teams).

Exactly.

As for three French IHF players of the year, Wislander was voted as the IHF player of the 20th century and Svensson was just as good as Omeyer, and on top of that you have Staffan, Hajas, Lindgren, Carlen etc.
