Lets be honest, none of those guys are even close to top 10 players. Kopi could be if he can avoid that long mid-season slump, and I think Drew will be at some point.

I loves me some DD. But, What the hell?

Also DD being above Kopitar is really entertaing to me in itself.

I love the Hockey News, it's pretty difficult to find a dedicated one sport publication where everyone that works on it clearly watches ZERO of the sport in question... LOL

Maybe those guys were watching a different Cup Finals...clearly, Zach Parise is not better than Kopitar.

For those of you who say none of our guys are in the top 10, kindly put in your own top 10 list.

And also for those of you who say none of our guys should be in the top 10, you are clearly wrong about one Jonathan Quick, who should have also won the Vezina.

Quick could be said to be top 10 at least. Kopi maybe top 15?

What are people talking about Kopi is for at least in discussion for top 10. Not only offensively but for what he does on D.

Those are about the only two that I could see even making an arguement over.

Not even Quick?
The arguement that this was his breakout year, and he'll never repeat it again is just sitting there to be used. Otherwise I'd say sure Quick is easily in the discussion as far as top 10 goalies in the league goes.

Goalies can often come and go in stardom so to speak, but the ranking I would assume whos the best player right now, between seasons? I havent read the article so I might be wrong. Because of the season the Kings had many King players will have a high stock value, RIGHT NOW.

Quick belongs in the top ten, Kopi is borderline, Doughty has no business being there based on his regular season play, but Parise might be the biggest reach IMO ( he wasn't even the best player on his team last year)

Of course having a good defense helps your goaltender, but it doesn't MAKE your goaltender.

If Quick is the product of our D, then why has Benier only been able to muster a .910 save percentage and a losing record?

I think Kopi is easy top 10, the other 2 are debatable. If its based off last year then id put quick in and leave doughty off, if its based on this coming season then I have no problem with doughty in the top 10, I think he is going to have a huge year.

It's always tough to figure out exactly how good a goalie is, when so much of their success is based off of the team and system around them. that being said this is a goalie league and Quick is at least one of the best, easy to make the case for the best.

How much I love my team and the players we have to be realistic here, the only player that you might make an argument for is Quick. Yes even after the playoffs. Like someone said if Kopi can avoid the mid-season slump then yeah maybe he can crack the top ten, but on Doughty no not just yet.

Let's see, THN whose job it is to TRY to see the league as a whole and write stories about Hockey 12 months a year VS a bunch of Internet knobs that watch the Kings and a few others teams on CI.

Got it. I'll take THNs judgement as far as who is the best in the NHL. People really shouldn't have such an inferiority complex because, finally, the Kings are getting props. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Did anyone of the Doughty sceptics actually watch the Stanley Cup run?

On par with, if not better than, Quick during the games from April through June. You know the games that actually means anything. That doesn't prove to the fan that you are pretty much the best in the business?

He had a bad regular season? Wow, who could find any type of energy to give a s_it about that, in comparison to, you know... the only games that carries any type of value in this sport and the only reason we are fans. You know, the single reason some of us desires to continue to follow a team... TO WIN!

The same reason the best players in this league plays... to win.

I am absolutely chocked reading some of the reactions concerning Doughty. Parallell universe kind of stuff. Jesus fuxxing christ.

considering the fact that when you take into account reg season + playoffs, Quick was the best player in the world last season, his placement is fine

As far as the list is concerned who cares, let the talking heads debate but as a kings fan one thing that no one can debate is the kings are the best hockey team in the world. I don't need to think about if quick was on the BJ's, all I got to do is root for the kings to do it again. Then we can debate on kings being a dynasty which would be much more fun

Yup. After looking over some of the 'Karlsson vs Doughty' and 'Spezza vs. Kopitar' threads this list is gold.

Quick arguably could have been up for the Hart, he carried the team early on, won the Conn Smyth, and the Stanely Cup. He has improved every year in the league, made stops most goalies would injure themselves trying and got nominated by Toastmasters for speech of the year( Okay maybe not that) the dude is a well deserved top 10.

Kopitar is phenomenal and we are spoiled. What other player in the league at this young of age plays such a complete game. His linemates are great second liners, borderline first liners and he spent 3/4's of the year in a no imagination, offensive crippling system. People are complaining about switching Quick and Bryz's teams, try Kopitar and Giroux. Kopitar would have hit close to 100. The guy was great after Sutter and will defiantly be a top 10 player. He is a rare two way, big bodied, super skilled leader that will put up a PPG pace well being mentioned in Selke talk for years.

Doughty has potential to be top 10, he improved in the playoffs and under Sutter but I would put Weber ahead of him on past performance. DD however has the ability and brains to be a top 10 player, but still has to mature into that at this time. Not quite there
