You can always try to buy tickets directly from the Canadiens when the tickets go on sale in mid-September.

AK is a good top 6-9 depth player. He's probably asking too much and will end up having to take a decrease, much like it happened with Tanguay.
Depth forward on your 3rd line, if he is in your top 6 you're in trouble

Not really, his production is pretty much standard for a 2nd liner. AK on your third line is a luxury.

I just don't think he is consistent enough to belong in a top 6. We shall see if any offers come up for him after Doan is signed, he should be the next best player available on UFA and things might heat up for him

Maybe not top three but definitely top six

Again it all depends of the situation and who he would play with. You tell me Pittsburgh with either Crosby and Malkin i'll agree, here he wasn't and didn't do much in Nashville either. All depends of the team IMO

4th wingers are never consistent. If they were consistent they'd be higher in the lineup.

Fresh off my trip to Montreal for my buddies bachelor party, we arranged our next adventure. Saturday October 6th, Caps @ Canadiens. I have to say, I have been to many places, but Montreal was so unique and wonderful I can not stay away. Not to mention the most beautiful women I have ever seen. (And they don't look down on me for being a cigarette smoker haha)

I am definitely looking forward to seeing live action in the Bell Centre... Hockey season can not come soon enough!

Any tips for surviving our first Bell experience? We decided to drive up this time, and we have our hotel all booked, but what can we expect in terms of ticket prices? I'd like to sit pretty close to the action as it is an away game.
That's a pre season game against Boston

Washington is Sat. Oct 20th

Most fringe top 6 guys are "fringe" because of inconsistancy.

Yep, but I didn't really take notice of the date in his post, my bad. You can almost always get pre-season tickets cheap from disappointed scalpers 5 minutes after puck drop.

Yea this is a general rule with scalping, not only in pre season, if your wallet is slim and want to watch a game. Unless its premium games, like TOR and BOS games, no chance there.

Going by yourself, you should be able to score a single for $40-60 if you wait it out a bit and haggle with the scalpers.

What, pre-season prices are the same as regular ? A couple of years ago I could have gotten front row seats to a Detroit-Montreal game (pre-season) for 120.

Ah you are correct sir.... I have no clue why I put the 6th haha? But yea... We are driving up that Friday night the 19th and driving back that Tuesday the 23rd.

I think my first move would be to try to buy directly mid sept... if that doesn't work hopefully I can find something on the ticket exchange. The lucky part about away games is that obviously I will want to sit on the Caps shoot twice end and I would assume they would be a little cheaper.

I am weird as well and so is my buddy, we like to sit behind the net to see the plays unfold head-on. Somewhere around 207 or 310 I think would work out nicely.

Either way I do it, there will be a 100% chance we are hitting Chez Paree after the game. I'll probably be in my Winter classic Ovi jersey if you want to say hi and join for a brew.

Scott Hannan signed with Nashville.

To be honest, I'd rather have him as a bottom pairing d-man than Boullion.

Nope.

We probably have enough Ribeiro/Ovie fans over here to fill another arena anyway...

from a purely on-ice pov, I would tend to agree. Hannan probably gives you a little more effectiveness in the "bottom-pairing defensive depth dman" role.

but Bouillion's addition clearly was at least in part a question of his relationship/history with Therrien, making him a "known commodity" for the new coach.

quite likely that the intangible benefits of Bouillion outweigh the marginal difference in effectiveness of the two players in a 6-7 dman role.

Hannan has been pretty bad in the last couple of years, Bouillon knows the city and coach well, better fit for us IMO

Hannan's size alone makes him a better fit. Whether Boullion is tough or not, he is still just another undersized bottom pairing d-man and we have enough of those with St. Denis, Diaz and Weber. Boullion becomes extremely redundant, the same way we wouldn't want another 5'7 forward regardless of how tough he is. Boullion really wasn't necessary at all. At that point, I would have not signed him, keep the cap space and then leave an opening for a rookie to shine in case of injuries, especially since no one expects us to be good this year.

Their respective capabilities may be more or less similar, but Hannan would be more of need than Boullion at this point.

Hannan has been bad when teams still try to use him as a top 4 d-man paying him 20+ minutes a night. He's still good in his own zone and is more than adequate as a bottom pairing d-man. His size also makes him a much better fit than Boullion at this point even though both players defensive capabilities are more or less the same at this point in their careers.
