I'm not sure that the lack of a deal being found between the Ducks and Sabres in regards to Ryan can actually be solved by including Getzlaf.

It's huge but when you break it down the value is pretty fair, regardless of any team logistics or how realistic it is.

Anaheim - Buffalo
Getlzaf - Ennis, Adam, Pysk
Ryan - Hodgson, Stafford, 1st

Edmonton - Buffalo
Gagner - Sekera, 2nd
3rd - Tropp

There is room for debate on how fair, but i think they all can be deduced as somewhat fair value from Buffalo's end. They maybe could be argued as losing the Gagner trade a bit, but after the Anaheim trade they would be bargaining from a position of weakness. It looks like it really hurts the depth in Buffalo but really they are moving only 3 full time forwards from last season, if you include Adam it's 4. So they get 3 top 6 forwards for 3 top 6 forwards. They are giving up a defenseman but they have the depth to cover for it IMO. They are playing a big price in prospects, but they are getting a much better current team for the here and now. Buffalo would have an elite/near elite player for their #1 center, winger,
defenseman, and goalie positions.

As an Edmonton fan i'd rather not trade Gagner, and i feel we need centers more than defenseman when you consider some of the young d we have coming. But if we were to move Gagner, this would be a very appealing package.
