Close fight. I thought Edgar won for sure, but I'm really excited about a Diaz/Henderson fight.

at that Cerrone and Benson exchange about Henderson's propensity for surviving chokes.

Do judges have to actually write down scores in ink after each round?

My reaction after the fight was, "how could the first judge have it 49-46?" because I don't think there was anything between them rounds 3, 4 and 5. The idea that a decisive 10-9 5th round win for Henderson would have NOT swayed the fight in the eyes of the first judge is disturbing ... even if you think Edgar edged out round 3, after you see him edge out round 4, part of you has to think, "this needs to be 38-38 right now" and you retroactively give round 3 to Henderson.

Philosophically, I think razor-close decisions should go to the champ (if you want to take it, TAKE IT) and Henderson's win in February was decisive, while this was a coin toss. No more rematches for a while, bring on Diaz.

I thought that was a fairly easy fight to score.

Round 1 was Ben
Round 2,4,5 were Edgar
Round 3 was ideally a draw, slight edge to Ben though because they never score draws.

I don't see many avenues to victory for Nate in his fight against Ben. He's lost to every wrestler he's ever faced.

Disagree completely. Ben hasn't finished anyone in his last 6 or 7 fights, and anytime Nate has 25 minutes to finish he has a good shot to win.

As for wrestlers, he beat Manny Gamburyan (odd finish) but also beat Maynard on the show. Split decisions against Maynard and Guida could have gone either way. Many would consider Miller a wrestler.

Henderson is as strong as some of the 170lb guys though, which will be tough on Nate.

Ariel Helwani @arielhelwani
If you're wondering what the brouhaha was during the presser, I'm told Frankie's mgr @alidominance and Bendo's mgr @malkikawa got into a scuffle. Not sure who won, but I'm told it was the opposite of the main event, if you catch my drift. For whatever it's worth, Ali and his team say he punched Malki in the face. It seems like they didn't like what he had to say after the main event, although, I'm not quite sure what was said.

Just watched the PPV today.....

Frankie got screwed. I had it the same as the first judge, 49-46 for Frankie. Just a terrible decision.

Also, they need to do something about fighters putting their hand on the ground to prevent knees. Such a ***** move.

Kinda feel bad for Frankie as I thought he should've won the fight, but that's why you can't rely on winning fights by decision. Also, I don't see anyway Edgar would've beat Diaz. The reach advantage would've been too much for Frankie to overcome in the standup and I don't see Edgar being able to nullify Nate on the ground for 5 rounds. Bendo at least has a bit of a size advantage as he's about the size of a smaller 170, but I think Nate beats him as well.

Meh, I didn't think it was that controversial. Could've gone either way in my eyes.

Benson fan here, I also thought Frankie was getting the decision.

I dont get the uproar though, it was a very very close fight & wouldn't rank in the top 5 worst decisions of this year.

If anyone cam finally submit benson it will be Diaz. I doubt it happens though, Smooth will have a proper gm plan & Diaz struggles with quality wrestlers who have good defense.

Those numbers don't surprise me. I was at Edgar/Henderson 1 and the bar was packed. Went back to the same bar for Edgar/Henderson 2, and it was absolutely empty.

The Direct TV issues, very poor undercard, too many cards, summertime.. lots of factors.

Not sure I would call Benson a wrestler.

He is pretty well rounded.

Should be a good fight.

Finally got around to seeing this. Definitely thought Frankie won the main event. I'd actually say their first fight was closer than this one was. I'm looking forward to Henderson/Diaz though and I think Diaz will win that one.

Cerrone/Melvin was really fun to watch and Cerrone/Pettis should be great too.

Shields looked like **** once again. I'm not sure how he managed to beat Dan Henderson a couple years ago. That weight cut must've really drained Hendo.

How does everyone like Frankie's chances against Aldo?

If he can close the distance and take Aldo down he will win easily.

If he cant Aldo will leg kick him to death.

Hendo should have KO'd him in the first round but Shields recovered. Hendo gassed himself after that 1st round and had a brutal cut before that fight.

I could see it going either way, but definitely like Diaz at +165.

I'd like to see Frankie fight Korean Zombie in some sort of 5 round, #1 contenders bout.

That would be a great fight, as Zombie will be the one pushing the pace against Edgar and not Edgar which he's used to.
