You could see posts like that all over the boards back in 2003-04.

I was so pissed when the Ducks took Bobby Ryan over Brule.

Too bad. I always liked the guy. Kept hoping he could be a physical, 2 way, 3rd liner

I remember when Brule spat in my coaches face during a game in bantam hockey. Always had the skill but he was a loose cannon. No mental game.

Even though Crosby backed out I think it was a week before the game and skills comp, Posters were still set up in the arena promoting Crosby vs. Brule

Although a lot of the hype Brule was getting around that time leading up to the game may have been because the game was in the Giants home arena and Brule played for the Giants
and after Brule did dominate the game, Cherry want off and said Brule was as good if not better than Crosby. IIRC

You won't see him bring that prediction up ever again.

McGuire blasted the Habs for not drafting Kopitar. Frankly, I agree with him however that is another topic.

In that scenario, no, that's absolutely not what the chances are.

While it is not cheap, don't teams usually provide a residence and a car very often?

This -- He probably wants to know for sure what he's doing next season. Besides, I think anybody would take a year in Switzerland if they had a good job offer, it's beautiful there.

I don't really have enough of a sample size to say whether it's all that common, but it does happen, and I suspect that it is rather usual for this type of marquee signing. That certainly helps.

Brule better get over there asap and find his way into the line up. Ryan Shannon has 6 points in 2 games for the ZCS Lions. Tearing it up!

Well Brule is known for not having a strong mental game. Maybe the coach wasnt an expletive and Brule just has issues which explains why he failed to stick on the 2 worst teams in the NHL.

Didnt it come out during the botched trade with LA that he was suffering from depression

Shame, he looked good in the playoffs for the coyotes. Hopefully he can find his game over there and will be back in the nhl soon.

He was rushed by the Jackets. I think he could've turned out much better had he not been rushed.

Any Swiss fans here who know if Brule will be travelling to Sweden this weekend?

He was sent back to his junior team after 7 games (and an injury). He had 4 points in 7 games in the NHL that season, did fantastic in the pre-season. The next season it was the NHL or WHL. It seemed like a no-brainer for him to stay in the NHL. He could have benefited from time in the AHL that season, but it wasn't an option. He needed to learn how to transition his game to the NHL and that never happened. But another season of junior hockey would have just kept inflating his ego and reinforcing what he was doing playing against kids.

Part of the problem that's set-up with teams like Columbus or Edmonton is that rookies like Brule are penciled into the starting lineup and don't understand the amount of work that it takes to make the NHL. Everything comes very easy in pre-season but that's not the regular season

Injuries didn't help Brule either and playing his style of hockey against bigger, stronger players was a recipe for non-stop injuries.

On the bright side, having been to Zurich. It's a beautiful town and doesn't have hookers everywhere like Geneva!
