There's a slim to no chance Anaheim even moves Ryan let alone moving both Ryan and Getzlaf.

First the edmonton-Buffalo part.....

I dont see edmonton basically trading Gagner for Sekera plus a few odds and ends

As I said on a prior thread....If Buffalo was to get Gagner it would likely be to trade him for something else like do the ryan deal such as Gagner, Stafford, and a pick for Ryan.

I am a bit surprise that people say Buffalo gets hosed, by my count they walk away with easily the best two player in the deal (and arguably the third as well).

Yeah they give up a lot of youth, but their top 5 would be fairly stacked under the current proposal.

To many moving parts ... Like duh

Strip it down to 2 teams, and no more than 4 players. The amount of trades that have happened where more than 4 players were moved is very very very low.

Somehow I knew this would involve Getzlaf and Ryan both going to the same team, courtesy of a bunch of second-tier guys and spare "quality prospects". I admit to being surprised, though, that the team in question was Buffalo instead of Edmonton.

Not a single asset from Buffalo's end is a spare part. They are all valuable pieces.

It's actually just two trades he made into one, neither deal is dependant on the other.

Edmonton Buffalo

Gagner
*3rd

for

Sekera
*Tropp
*2nd

I think this deal has a reasonable number of players involved

Getzlaf
Ryan

for

Ennis
Hodgson
Stafford
*Adam
*Pysyk
*1st

This deal is basically two 3 for 1 deals, and for players as good as Getzlaf and Ryan that's the kind of deals Anaheim would get on the market. Buffalo is sending 6 significant players for 2 elite ones, sounds about right to me.

Picks and prospects are starred just so it's easy to see that Anaheim only nets one extra roster player, Edmonton gets one for one, and Buffalo only loses a net of one full time roster player. I don't see how this makes it hard for them to ice a team, or the depth is too much for Anaheim to handle. IMO if any teams overpays it's Buffalo. Of course i don't think Getzlaf gets moved unless they can't get him signed so that reduces his value. I think both these deals are competitive offers on the open market.

Vanek - Getzlaf - Ryan
Leino - Gagner - Pommer
Foligno - ??? - Ott
Gerbe - McCormick - Kaleta

Still leaves us with the need for a third line center as Ott is a winger who is good at faceoffs. The main thing I would question on that, had the deal not been redonkulous is is this a stanley cup winning team? Getzlaf is a rental. That's a lot of talent to be giving up for a rental player as good as he is. Also will he bounce back, or will we be paying for a repeat of last season. Frankly Id rather not trade for Getzlaf. Also, as to the people saying no quality players are going to ANA:

This trade proposal is so insanely rediculous, that it is amusing just to think about it....excuse me while I attempt to stop myself from chuckling out loud, and making my coworkers think I'm insane.

I shared this with a coworker and he pointed out that it probably wouldn't work from a cap perspective. The top 6 forwards would be making over $40M.

First, that's too much for Gagner. They would be better off with Adam for there 2nd center if a deal was to happen. So Sekera-Adam for Gagne-3rd. Next I wouldn't even put Getz in this. Gagne-Stafford-1st- for Ryan.

If I'm ANA, I would take this...from a neutral observer.

I would also trade Corey Perry to the highest bidder at the trade deadline.

Not a single current first-liner or top player is given up - just maybe-prospects like Ennis and Hodgson - and yet two first-liners come back. (Sekera does move, but not to Anaheim.)

Also, I did not use the phrase "spare part" anywhere in my post.

One of Ennis or Hodgson is our current first line center. Though that says more about our roster needs than either of those players...

Only 47 posts for this little nugget of a thread?? How is that possible? It's Getzlaf...and Ryan. There should be all sorts of insanity running rampant through here.

This deal needs 3 more teams and 8 more players involved.

This is way too cut and dry to really happen.

Somehow I managed to completely miss that. I guess two plus two really is four.
