It makes sense for all of the reasons I listed above. The alternative would be to have a younger AHL guy sitting in the press box for 60 games. Not exactly great for developing skills.

That's what guys like Harry Z are for. He hustles and plays hard but he's a dime a dozen player. He also doesn't make 1.1 mill and can actually contribute on the ice every once in awhile.

And honestly I think he'd prefer to be given a chance to try and make something happen during the injury fill-in games he gets a chance to play in because "developing" in the minors isn't really going to help him. Odds are he will never be anything more than a 4th line fill-in.

He's the 14th with everyone is healthy I think, which is absolutely fine, I want him on the club and to play a little.

His cap hit is 1.1 million and that's incredibly stupid. That's all that matters.

I would drive Shelley to Detroit if a Shelley for Emmerton trade went down.

Maybe I'm related to Holmgren

Seriously though,
Shelley is a solid veteran enforcer with one last year under contract, and makes only 900k next year in what will surely be his last NHL season. He never complains about being scratched and is a great teammate. Also, he looks like an Anglo-Saxon Rocky.

I'd blast Emmerton out of a cannon if we could get rid of him. What a lame excuse for a 4th line center. Some Flyers fans harp on Shelley, but at least he has a pair of balls. He knows his role and he plays it well. Emmerton has never finished a check in his life, doesn't block shots, and has his gloves glued to his hands. On the bright side, he can skate faster than Shelley

Would rather we get cash considerations or some prospect for shelley...not trying to replace him with another healthy scratch sitting in the pressbox lol

He's valuable enough that he could bring a 7th rounder. Realistically I'd rather keep him.

I just merged it into your previous post, because I didn't really know what the hell was going on. Once people start talking to themselves I usually just back away slowly

no team is going to give up a draft pick for Jody Shelley.

Shelley will probably be 14th this year, so one of either Harry Z or Sestito will play ahead of him.

Holmgren and Laviolette just have to convert Shelley into a defenseman. That way, he can take Lilja's place as the healthy-scratched defenseman instead of taking up important space as the healthy-scratched forward.

I'm sure you're joking but regardless having Shelley on the roster and playing some games is a good thing. Otherwise we'd just have a prospect as a regular scratch.

But he can't fight any more. We'd be better off waiving Shelley and having Walker up, he's a better fighter at this point and he's a functioning d-man.

I like Shelley as a person and he has a good presence in the locker room and in practice. But as a hockey player, he knows what he has to do out there, but the game is faster than he is. If anything he will make a great coaching or sounding board for the younger players on work ethic. As for a fighter he had ONLY 6 fights out of our 57 on the year..... fighting hasn't been down (total number leauge) this much since 2005-2007..... as many have said it's a dying breed, the enforcer. I think (know) teams would rather have big skilled guy, who can skate and put one in from time to time AND drop the gloves when needed. Playing a total of 30 games and having 1 assist, just doesn't cut it anymore....

He is hardly relevant.... as RUPP said.
