Nice prediction, you guys got him through Sj's first in the rivet trade right? Makes me so sad

I'm so pumped we did the smart thing and lock up one of our young stars long term early when we can lock them up for less money as they aren't so close to the ufa market.

Per his agent.
I see this as a message to all the Habs rosters to come. Wonder if Subban caught the message also.

I wouldn't mind signing PK to something similar but maybe start him at $3M next yr.

You know this deal is amazing when you head over to the Trade board and see fans of every single fan base praising Marc Bergevin and calling this contract a pure steal.

Last couple of years, I always wondered what it must feel like to be a fan of a team that signed a player for long-term and it being viewed as a massive steal. I no longer wonder. I now know how it feels. It feels good.

This is just a beautiful contract! When Pacioretty sign his last contract he said he wanted a 2 year deal to prove himself and that his next contract he would "get as much as possible".

I don't know about you guys but seems to me like he changed his mind. He could of easily get 30-33M/6years but decided to take a discount! I love Pacio but now I love him even more.

First Gorges, then Price and now MaxPac.. I love the new management team. Bergy can surely surprise us. Now it's time for Subban.. Let's go Bergy, make it work please.

> A 23 years old core player with size and speed who can score 25-40 goals per season

> This young man acts like a pro, display confidence (he did put a lot of pressure on his shoulders when he went public with – not the exact quote - "It would be better for me to assume bigger duties in the AHL"… and he delivered!) and has a good attitude

> Long terms contract with a good cap hit

... I had to login for that one!

Bergevin

--------------------

Side note: the chemistry between Desharnais and Pacioretty is obvious but I wish Therrien intends to use Max on Plekanec's wing in 2012-13. Imo Pacioretty – Plekanec – Gionta + Bourque – Desharnais – Cole would be a good one-two punch.

If I really dig hard for dirt, my only "concern" is the slight change in his play (less aggressive) displayed after his suspension.

Gauthier actually did well on the Gorges contract.

Very happy with this contract and with any luck, Subban will see this and sign on sooner then later.

Yeah, but the hockey gods evened it out for us, see: Gomez Trade...

Bruins fan at my work: "You should thank Chara. Probably rang somethin' loose up there for taking so little money."

Pure class that guy.

Great deal, very impressed with Bergie's work so far.

I was just thinking the other day, what if Desharnais and Patches have a monster year and they have to sign them both to new contracts, they would both be in line for big raises. This is a pre-emptive strike that pretty much solves that dilemma. So glad to have Max locked up for 7 years.

Hopefully Subban can follow the same path as Price and Pacioretty:
- ELC
- Moderate 2-year deal
- Long term extension

Not surprised new management's getting it done.

Would you say no to this guy?

With this guy sitting behind him?

I wouldn't.

Seriously though, awesome deal, and it's great that Patches feels this way. Maybe he can convince a couple other guys to do the same. I really hope this season gets going with no lockout because I'm really pumped to see how it goes!
