your kidding me right. We are the evil trapping team that does nothing but clutch and grab.

And in the first game the power plays were 8 to 7 after two periods before the Rangers got out of control in the third and in game 2 the Rangers had one more power play than the Devils (each team got pointless ones at the end - the one on Weekes and the Janssen one at the end of the game). So yes I'd call it whining.

And to get on the Jagr thing again - here is Renney's full quote

"[I don't like] the turning and protecting the puck with the back to the checker, then falling down and grabbing your head, and then jumping up and skating away after a penalty has been called," Renney said following practice. "You haven't seen any of our guys do that."

yet that's exactly what Jagr did too. Your fellow NYR fan there says Jagr was hurt after - yet he missed a minute of play maybe. That's not hurt - that's doing exactly what renney is whining about.

The funniest part of this thread is the thought that this might be "Bulletin Board" material. The Devils are essentially kicking our butts all over the place. They may read some of this, and get a chuckle out of it, but "Bulletin Board material"???

exactly, when you are dominating a series you don't need "bulletin board" material. when its a tight series or you are down, then you need it.

I am not here to fight. Tonight will be my 49th Rangers game in person. I am going to support my team no matter how foolish other people think they look.

All I am saying is maybe, just maybe, there was more to the quote than what was presented. I am not saying someone posted it while leaving some parts out. Renney just hasnt had a history of making comments like this. If it's part of his MO, then you might just see more of it. If thats the case then by all means blast away.

I guess the frustrating thing from TR's POV is when Langenbrunner got hit there wasnt a call until he grabbed his head. When Orr hit Gomez it looked like the ref's arm went up before the hit - it was right in front of me. Either way, it has little to do with the the outcome of the games.

Renney hasnt shown much of this side all season. Hes very laid back and realistic. I would kinda like to see the context of the conversation before hanging him.

Theres the stigma that Devils get calls and other teams dont. I dont know if its true. No point in debating it, officiating is so subjective. Call it whining if you will.

It's easy to sit back with your arms folded when your team cannot do any wrong. Hopefully the Rangers can begin to make this interesting tonight. I know you guys want your team to win, but I am sure you would like the Rangers to get a taste of success then yank it away.
I agree..but the only problem I have is with the Orr hit on Gomez..Orr came from outside the blue line..Gomez gave up the puck..and then in slow motion Orr just kept coming until he hit him. It was just a little too obvious and a little too late after gomer gave up the puck

I don't think it's a big deal. It's a good read and just posturing by Renny. However, you know Brooks is trying to blow this all out of proportion and it does spice up tonight's game a bit more.

actually i don't see the big deal. he is talking about the check orr took a penalty on last game because the hit was so late.

and if you look at that hit, the devil got pretty much 75% out of the way, then did drop down to the ice and hold his head like he was hurt. i mean it was a penalty none the less, but the devil player def tried to sell it.

so while renney should be worried about other stuff, instead of talking about this stuff, the devil player did embelish the hit.

so i don't see why he is whinning.....more like concentrating on the wrong stuff.

Renney questioned the Devils' honor yesterday after two penalties to his players in Game 2. Chad Wiseman was called for boarding Jamie Langenbrunner and Colton Orr was called for interference against Gomez as Gomez remained on the ice holding his helmet. "If somebody is trying to play you straight up and play the game within the rules and that's physically, I have a hard time with those that choose to turn and invite the hit, which they do, then fall down and grab their head," said Renney, who has discussed the matter with officials during the series. "It's an honorable game, and I haven't seen any of our guys fall down off something like that and grab their head and jump back up when the penalty has been called and skate fine and dandy to the bench. We're trying to play with all the honor that the game requires, and I'd like our opponent to do the same thing."

Maybe the Devil players are smart enough to know the value of a power play in the playoffs.

I've watched a lot of hockey on Center Ice this season. Call me a huge homer, but the New Jersey Devils are one of the last teams I'd be fingering as dishonorable. How many times did we have big controversies revolving around "allegedly" dirty Devils plays this year? I can't think of too many at all.

I agree that it was a penalty and I also agree that Gomez tried to milk it for everything it was worth.

I've accused him of that numerous times.

You guys aren't a dirty team at all. I see Cam Janssen hitting high once in a while, but outside of that I guess White might throw some dirty **** around here and there. But I agree, you guys are one of the least dirty teams in the entire league.

White is like Lenny in Mice and Men who keep killing the rabbits by accident when petting them because he never fully understood how big and strong he is.

Can I be the one to put him down, then?
