This can't be a presser only for the Patches signing, right?

Says Shane Doan wants to take his time and he respects his decision.

Says he has confidence in his young players, wants competition in camp.

Just announced the Patches signing and then dodged questions about PK and about labour dispute. Quiet on the trade front right now. Says they are done on UFA front but that there was an offer made to Doan and that they're waiting for his decision. Didn't sound like he was too confident about Doan though.

Would Desharnais sign, or would he try to repeat to avoid a lowball offer?

I don't see why Desharnais would sign an extension unless we are seriously overpaying him, if he has one more year like last year his value will go up significantly.

Not a very revealing presser, they rarely are...but one of the most pertinent details I caught was Bergevin stating that money will be made available if they want a specific player

Just more proof how cap space is over-analyzed by fans

Gomez is obviously the x-factor in this statement, whether it is an amnesty clause, demotion etc.

Montreal media is in heaven with this guy in charge. Regularly throwing bones at these journalists for them to chew on for a while, even though, there isn't really much substance (i.e. real news).

Not saying it's a bad thing, on the contrary.

Agreed. In his short tenure, he's already talked to the media more often than Gauthier did during his entire reign at the helm. Gotta love a little transparency, after dealing with a few years of sketchy moves that were shrouded in secrecy.

PK will definitely want a 6 yr deal now, with Gorges,Price, and Max all here for the long haul.......hopefully PK pushes his agent in the right direction...

You keep not making the difference between money and cap space.

Also, you say people are obsessed about the cap but all I see is posts from you crying about junior capologists. Sounds like you're the one who's obsessed, just sayin'....

And finally, as someone said, it's obvious that cap space can be made available if you bury Gomez.

You're trying too hard.

Cap space can be made by making a number of moves...not just sending Gomez to siberia.

It's call being a General Manager...you know, managing your roster?

Shocking revelation isn't it?
