Looked a bit further into Travis Howe and found out he's a Right Winger.

http://www.wickedlocal.com/capecod/n...#axzz21UAhg6oL

Also played on his team's top line.
Played on a Junior team with other Wildcats protected players Frankie Vatrano and Alex Gacek. So Flynn must have got a decent look at this guy while scouting the others. Heard he's larger , more like 6'5'' 220lbs. Tough guy.

Piercey, Kyle D 1994-02-03 6'00" 170 Middleton, NS
Lemieux, Yanick D 1995-05-15 6'04" 197 Châteauguay, QC

Moncton adds a new free agent from Halifax , forward Mackenzie Young. Mediocore stats last season. Something like 15 pts in 34 games I believe and 1pt in 16 playoff games.

Family has ties with the Cats. His dad is a scout for the Nucks. Amherst drafted him in the MJAHL. Don't expect much.

Neil Hodge has reported that Quebec's 3rd rounder will change into a 1st round pick 2015based on Shea's performance.

Moncton added free agent Joseph Colatarci . He's a 6'2 center from Florida. Also added was goaltender CJ Sharp from Markham Ontario.

that's weird...i thought that wasnt how it worked!!! remember i said a while back...you have to consider a lot of things when you look at who gets invites and goes to training camps.
i'm sure the fact his father use to be the wildcats manager has nothing to do with the fact he was invited to camp

I find it more shocking that there are players from Florida that are worthy of the QMJHL

Just because someone got invited to camp doesn't mean he's Q calibre lol.

Cats had brought in a guy from California one year and he actually made the team. Eventually got cut and played for Prince George in the WHL. Good 'ol Marcus Watson.

Yes I remember that. I always enjoyed watching training camp games.

Always like to watch players hungry for a spot go at it. I just hated that the games are played at the four-plex or whatever the hell its called now.

You don't have to lean forward, you can see the ice just fine if you sit still!

Oddly enough i've seen a couple of ex-Wildcats players play in Grande Prairie (AJHL). Watson is one, Maxime Belanger is another.

Full Disclosure - I used to be a season ticket holder until 2006. Section 1. Just for those who are wondering.

Caught the game tonight. Pretty good game overall, fast and a few big hits. For Moncton, up front I liked Hodge, Thomas, Pitre, Hynes, Spears and Gagne. Standing out the most Hodge, and Gagne, for me atleast. Hodge played physical and created a few chances. Gagne is a perimeter player for sure, but I liked him, always buzzing. On the backend I liked Sweeney, Primeau, McCabe and Labbé. Sweeney created a lot of chances however tried to do too much and often got caught up doing it. I wonder if that will work against veterans like Brent Andrews, Josh Currie, etc. Anyways, I liked McCabe's game second best, he flattened two or three kids and I read that he was -3, I don't think he was but I did miss two goals against. Primeau never made any standout plays other than a few passes. Could be a dependable # 7 or 8 guy who could step in with ease. Labbé threw the body around and made a few good passes, but he doesn't have a good enough hockey IQ to play this year. I think any of the first three mentioned all have a shot at making it, but Sweeney is the only one who will if no moves are made. Sharp was not that good in nets, I think it's set in stone who the goalies are. Bathurst had better forwards and Moncton had better D, while goaltending was equal. Great game to watch though, but I was hoping for one of Arthur, Simpson, Thomas or Spears to step up to Dube who was stirring the pot all night. Maybe tomorrow. Still a great game though!

why do the wildcats always have to justify why they have loss in the times transcript. Does Neil hodge expect them to win every game and if they dont, he feels he has to tell fans why they loss?? ever thought that perhaps they just go outplayed?!?! maybe bathurst did have an older line up....but if the wildcats would have won, do you think he would have mentioned that bathurst had an older line up

Older lineup?

The Titan had Lyle and Kabambi, 2 4th liners last season as veterans in that game.
The rest was 90% 16-17YOs.....

As I mentioned earlier, it is no secret to me that the Titan have more depth than Moncton offensively and the stream of rookies coming in might show that also.
Their D depth however is deeper than ours.

oh, i dont care who was in the line up. personally i think pre-season games mean nothing in the grand scheme of who finished where in the standings. Its just annoying that the T transcript is already justifying loses.....the outshot bathurst 40-24...why do you have to explain why they lost. they got 40 shots, surely they did something right, and it had nothing to do with age of players!!!!

The winner of pre-season games is the team that's staff is able to view players in differrent situations and evaluate them. Pre-season games mean nothing when it comes to winning or losing.

Moncton released 11 players yesterday — goaltender Grant Grady, defencemen Julien Belliveau and Tanner McCabe and forwards Gabriel Gagne, Brett Arthur, Zachary Beaudoin, Alex Bradley, Josh Pugsley, Erik Robichaud, Zachary Whitlock and Liam Hynes.

In the today's newspaper.

GOALTENDERS(2): Brandon Thibeau (age 19, 5-foot-11 and 177 pounds, Wildcats) and Alex Dubeau (age 18, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Shawinigan QMJHL)

DEFENCEMEN(10): Patrick Downe (age 20, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Wildcats); James Melindy (age 19, 6-foot-3 and 186 pounds, Wildcats); Danick Emond (age 19, 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, Wildcats); Cameron McDonald (age 19, 6-foot-1 and 184 pounds, Wildcats); Myles McGurty (age 18, 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Wildcats); Samuel Roussy (age 18, 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Wildcats); Brayden Wood (age 18, 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, Wildcats); Jonathan Racine (age 19, 6-foot-2 and 189 pounds, Shawinigan QMJHL); Jake Primeau (age 18, 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Ontario junior B) and Jacob Sweeney (age 17, 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Quebec midget espoirs)

FORWARDS(16): Alex Saulnier (age 20, six foot and 188 pounds, Wildcats); Allain Saulnier (age 20, six foot and 186 pounds, Wildcats); Mark Tremaine (age 18, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, Wildcats); Ross Johnston (age 18, 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Wildcats); Christophe Lalonde (age 18, 5-foot-10 and 179 pounds, Wildcats); Brett Malone (age 18, six foot and 192 pounds, Wildcats); Ryan Penny (age 18, 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, Wildcats); Yannick Veilleux (age 19, 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, Shawinigan QMJHL); Ivan Barbashev (age 17, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Russian junior); Lindon Beckwith (age 18, 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, Moncton midget AAA); Mitchell Deruelle (age 19, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Pictou junior A); Kristopher Hodge (age 17, 6-foot-1 and 194 pounds, Saskatchewan midget AAA); Dmitrij Jaskin (age 19, 6-foot-3 and 198 pounds, Czech professional league); Stephen Johnson (age 17, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Moncton midget AAA); Mark Simpson (age 17, 6-foot-5 and 175 pounds, Saint John midget AAA) and David Stephens (age 18, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, British Columbia junior A)

I'd bank on MacDonald , Beckwith and Johnson being the last cuts made. I think Flynn will start the season with 25 players. That leaves the roster looking something along these lines:

Dubeau
Thibeau

Downe- Melindy
Racine- Emond
Roussy- McGurty
Sweeney- Primeau
Wood

Veilleux - Saulnier - Saulnier
Deruelle - Barbashev- Jaski
Penny - Stephens - Johnston
Lalonde - Hodge - Malone
Tremaine - Simpson

* Could use:

1. Top pairing Offensize Defenceman to quaterback the PP
2. Top 6 winger to play along Barbashev and Jaskin
3. Back up goaltender cause things could get ugly if Dubeau got injured.

Mark Simpson (age 17, 6-foot-5 and 175 pounds, Saint John midget AAA)

How has this kid performed. It seems he was doing well from what i can gather on twitter. It seems every time I check game updates he did something well.
