Yup....no chance it could work out.

I don't think he will make it right out of training camp, but it is quite possible he sign ŕ two way deal, start the season with the Heat and then he might be a call-up. This guy is an absolute warrior outside and on the rink.

Andre Roy said on RDS during ''le 5 @ 7'' show that he will be at Montreal training camp. Maybe he was joking, but I think that he was serious.

I'm so sick of Flames fans thinking Aliu has such a high chance of playing on the team. Guess what, two games doesn't define a career.

Personally, in a 4th line role, I'd rather have Begin over both Aliu and Stajan. Arguably Comeau at times too, when he's floating. Begin doesn't float. Ever.

2 games doesn't define a career but I love how after 2 great games no one is allowed to think he could challenge for a spot on the 4th line.

Don't the Flames already have 12 forwards on one way contracts?
I guess if he settled for a 2 way contract it might work and Abbotsford is a pretty nice place to play AHL (except for the travel) but would a 34 year old Begin want to do that?
He wasn't healthy when he played for Milwaukee and when he had a tryout with Vancouver. IIRC, he had severe back problems

He trained like a workhorse this summer and he recently told RDS that he is in an amazing shape. He also said that he is willing to play in the AHL if it means that he can win a spot later in the season.

Honestly, I believe that he can make it. He'll probably have to start the season in the AHL but if someone has the heart to do it, it's clearly Begin.

Begin is taking his comeback much more seriously than Laraque.

Talking about TVA Sports, how come Renaud Lavoie from RDS got the scoop before them?

Not going to lie, I wish the Habs had given him a tryout. A top heart and soul player and worse case he helps lead players in the AHL to get better.

The guy hits like thunder. He was awesome in Montreal, people loved him, all his hits were highlights. I don't know if he can still play but he has more heart than all the guys mentioned.

This will be interesting to see the influence Bob Hartley will have on the Flames' roster and how the Habs' roster would have changed if he would have been there as opposed to Michel Therrien.

"During the lockout, a movement arose to free the Stanley Cup from the NHL.[9] By the original deed of Lord Stanley, the cup was a challenge cup open to the best amateur hockey team in Canada. Only since 1926 has it been exclusively competed for by NHL teams, and with the 2004–05 NHL season canceled, the group felt that the NHL had forfeited its right to award the Cup for the year. On February 7, 2006, a settlement was reached in which the trophy could be awarded to non-NHL teams should the league not operate for a season"

I'll take a look at it.

Also: Ranford was drafted by Philly in 2010

I really hope that Calgary doesn't burn a contract on this guy, even if he shows jump in the pre-season. This guy has a history of showing jump, followed by not being NHL capable. Other teams might be able to use a guy like this, and I hope he successfully showcases himself. However, Calgary has a shortage of NHL contracts. Unless the new CBA allows more, I say let this guy walk.

Would be nice for him to end it where it all started for him. No clue if he has a real chance of making the squad but good luck to him.
