How many PPG players exist in the Western Conference. It'd be nice to be out East and play Toronto, the Islanders, and Tampa Bay all the time but with more games in the West that means more games against tight checking defensive minded teams. Don't worry about Kane's NHL scoring ranking or if he crosses "PPG" or not and pay attention to his pace versus the scoring pace of the rival teams in our conference.
Good point Warrior. The West is a different animal with teams like Nashville, St Louis, Los Angeles, Detroit, ect. with suffocating defenses...top 10 defenses in the league. The East style of play is much more open(suitable to Kane especially). The East gets far more PPs than the West as well.
Patrick Kane finished 4th in the entire Western Conference for even strength points(tied with Marian Hossa and Henrik Sedin). Patrick Kane was 4th in the Western Conference in even strength points in 09-10 as well. He would've likely finished top 5 again in 10-11 if not for missing basically 10 games. Even with those missed games, Kane finished 10th in even strength points in the Western Conference.
I still remember the game against Ottawa where Kane should have had 5 points but I don't think he had any points. The East is, by far, the easier conference to score in.
I hate making this petty argument but Kane missed out on atleast 3 points that game. People assume that he always played with 2 of sharp Toews Hossa when in reality he had carcillo, Stalberg, and or Bruno as his "linemates" for a large chunk of games.
