If Holmgren wasn't willing to include Couturier in a deal for Weber, he's certainly not giving up him for Bouwmeester, I don't care how bad Philly's D is, that's a stupid move.
We seem to go through this all the time, saying that a certain player is on the market and that there's a bidding war so some other team is going to overpay massively to land the trade... and it really never happens, after it's done we usually look back and say "we could have offered a similar package and been happy". Look at Jeff Carter, Jordan Staal and Rick Nash just since this last deadline.
I think Blum + a pick is fair, don't forget that Calgary also gets rid of Bouwmeester's contract which is the whole point of moving him in the first place, if he had a better contract they wouldn't be shopping him in the first place.
philly will not offer blum and a second type package bc they dont have that. to top that they offer up a forward with the initials SC or BS
SC is off the table. If the Flyers offer Schenn, Calgary takes it and runs far, far away. Schenn is worth two Blums at this point.
My guess is Philly's offer is Read+, and ours if Blum+. The value of the players is similar IMO, so it comes down to whether Calgary wants a forward or D. Detroit could offer any number of things, but i could see Smith involved, as he is a D prospect of about Blum's value.
If anything (and if true), then at the least it's encouraging that even with the massive payout for Weber in the first 365 days of his contract (whenever he gets around to signing it), ownership is showing that they're willing to spend over and above to add to the team.
One wonders why Kostitsyn didn't shoot for the moon with that extension, but he really doesn't shoot all that often.
It's a huge promotion for the young Josi, who can't be a Suter, but he could be a suture, holding that pairing together and allowing Barry Trotz to continue relying heavily on the duo.
Ryan Ellis should see his first full season in a Predators' uniform, possibly alongside Kevin Klein, but, if we're lucky, alongside the monster Hal Gill. Here's hoping they work out a play where Ellis rides on Gill's shoulders, like in that movie The Mighty.
Goal scorer. Guy who just wants to shoot the puck.
Cool, we surely need some goal scorers. Looking forward to see him play on Saturday!
He will most likely play top minutes in our first line with Sakari Salminen (YouTube, he is fun to watch because he has it all, speed, unreal puckhandling skills and sharp shot) who is a top-5 player in the league so I'm expecting a lot from those guys.
I can write some reports about his games by the way.
OK the only other video I see on youtube is his empty netter miss (which was hilarious). Anyway, as you can see he likes to drive the net. He will also shoot the puck from any angle. I think his biggest issue last season was simply conditioning. Going from a short NCAA schedule to a grueling NHL schedule can't be easy.
