Alzner's an interesting case where a lot of fans think he has offensive upside in addition to his awesome shutdown game, but we've seen no inclination to develop it.
Neither the Caps nor the Avs have anyone who could effectively replace Alzner. The two teams are terrible trading partners anyway, as the biggest needs are essentially identical.
Caps would add to Alzner to get O'Reilly and Hejda. I'm not sure it would be a first, but I think Alzner's value is closer to O'Reilly straight up than O'Reilly + any roster player. The screwy part of that equation is that O'Reilly isn't signed, which more than likely changes things in some subtle way that I'm far from qualified even to speculate on.
Shermen should trade O'Reilly + Hejda for Alzner + 1st and then sign O'Reilly to a big offer sheet.
Rotfl... That's a good idea except when they match just like we would. =(

And we'd be adding something else to ROR for Yandle, don't think they need D.
Yeah I know, it would probably be an offensive prospect like Sgarbossa or something like that. I was just saying I'd rather have Yandle even if it costs us a little more, and because I believe the #2 we pickup should have an offensive game.
Besides it would be pretty cool to send them both to the Olympics as a defense pair.
