Could turn into a good contract, and I love him as a player.. but right now it's too high of a number for too many years.. though not surprising players wanting to get inked before the new CBA.

Lol Pierre mcguires response to the leino signing still sticks out in my mind.

Remember, Simmonds still has a year left on the current cap (1.75M). He can still be better too.

Who the hell said that?

Anyway, Simmonds is a heck of a player. Good contract, good signing.

no I mean production wise. Just seems like the player that will be dependent on his linemates if you want him to put up big numbers as opposed to someone capable of creating themselves. I like Simmonds and what he brings to the table.

It wasn't just those 2...JVR and Lupul dealt within a year of signing long-term deals too.

Nobody will ever sign a long term extension in Philadelphia ever again!

I have a feeling he'll drop off next season. Decent value though.

Good for him. I went to school with this guy. No way he would remember me but we were in like grade 10 English together and another class! He was always the one to start food fights and now he signed a long term big money NHL deal... Eh now that I think of it the banana wasn't racism IT WAS REVENGE.

Come back to Toronto and play for the only team that matters!

Why are you explaining yourself to some Habs fan (no disrespect to that specific Habs fan). Screw it. Haters gonna hate.

I wonder how many players it will take the Flyers to sign long term here before Richards and Carter do not come up.

I actually think people will ask for him MORE considering the Flyers' track record with long-term signed players

Like it.

Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, and Simmonds are a nice core to build around.

McKenzie says around 4m, a little high, but his best years are ahead of him. Got him locked up long term, though, and you usually have to pay a little extra for that. Solid enough for both sides. Like him as a player though

Lupul brought us in Chris Pronger, which at the time he was considered a cap dump.

Either way this is a great deal, IMO.

He'll be 24 next game he plays and has played almost 350 NHL games including playoffs, not such a ridiculous statement. Forwards peak a lot earlier than most fans seem to think IMO.

Simmonds is a very good player, pretty good contract.
