He'll be 24 next game he plays and has played almost 350 NHL games including playoffs, not such a ridiculous statement. Forwards peak a lot earlier than most fans seem to think IMO.
Simmonds is a very good player, pretty good contract.
I understand forwards usually peak around 24-27, but that still doesn't make any sense lol. The person explained what they meant though. Entering the age of 24 he still has many aspects of his game he can improve on, and Homer believes he will.
Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, and Simmonds are a nice core to build around.
Agreed. Great forward core. With guys like Hartnell/Briere/Read around it is definitely built to compete for a cup. Just need a core piece of D to build around as well... but I think Flyer fans have heard enough of that
not saying this in regards to simmonds, but for the elite scorers 23 is actually not that far off from where their goals totals start to decline these days.
Good for him. I went to school with this guy. No way he would remember me but we were in like grade 10 English together and another class! You would have known Mr. Adams, he was a fabulous teacher. Simmonds was at Scarborough Arena with the Stewart brothers and Doughty on Canada Day. They had a fundraiser but I can't remember what it was for, so he definitely comes back here.
Not that much. He isn't a defensive player, but he rarely costs us a goal when he's on the ice. ( maybe even never but I can't be sure about that. Don't remeber any time he did tbh)
Not sure is Simmonds is worth a top 6 commitment. I think this contract could have waited a little bit unless Holmgren offered it just to trade him soon.
not to mention I'm actually going to correct myself, because 8 players are still signed past 2015 so I wasn't completely accurate.
