If patently false , made up information is entertaining, I'd gladly be bored.

The problem with that source is he came out and said "well the MSM may be slow and take a couple days to get it"...

Well, Regier was quoted as saying they were discussing with Ennis last week. So there's a decent chance a deal with Ennis would get done soon anyways. The fact one gets done does not mean that "source" was right, only that he guessed right given the known odds. But that wouldn't stop the "source" from claiming victory.

The only way to refute it would be if Regier/Ennis/agent came out and said there is no deal yet. Which would be stupid...they probably don't give a **** what some random "source" says.

Guys....

MOVE ON

We're not here to discuss the validity of anonymous hockey twitter accounts. There are not reputable sources here. The end.

From today:

Quote:
Regier also spoke on the contract negotiations with Tyler Ennis, who’s slotted to center one of the top two lines this year.

“We spoke with his agent yesterday (Tuesday) and I think that will continue today,” Regier said. “That’s always a hard one [to say how close the sides are]. Close. … The positive is it’s moving in the right direction.”

Should be interesting to see how that awful Jeff Skinner contract effects negotiations.

It's another UFA year buying deal (actually, two years) though, so that likely skews the numbers a bit high.

I get it, but maaaaan that's a little high for Ennis at this point. I can see a 2 year deal, maybe 3 years at no more than 3 mil. per. But, time will tell.

Let's give Ennis the Roy contract. 6 years/24 million.Ennis will be worth 4+ a year after next season. If he stays healthy I see him really breaking out,30-40-70 is not out of the question.I'd prefer not to give him the classic 2nd contract taking him to RFA status for a season, because he will demand a lot more then compared to what we could get him signed for now.

If he would go for an Ehrhoff type deal, I'd do that in a heartbeat too, but it's doubtful a 22 year old will want to get locked in making only 40 million for 10 prime years of his career. At this point, considering how long it's taking to strike a deal, I can see all these scenarios being gone over with Regier and Ennis' agent.

If the deal is 2-3 years, I don't see over 2.8 per year. Extra years will increase the dollar value. The question is: do the Sabres want to commit more than that?

If this were true there it is proof there is something wrong with this world.

I moved the Sabres EA sports rating discussion to its own thread.

Ennis enters the season as Buffalo's No. 1 center but missed 34 games last year and is unlikely to get a massive jump from the $875,000 he made last season. Regier said he expects to speak again with the Ennis camp this week.

Saw a blurb on The Score (sports channel in Canada) that Buffalo was claiming the uncertainty of the CBA was preventing them from re-signinig Ennis. Anyone else heard this?

Enroth was close to returning to Sweden because of that negotiating tactic.

I'm all for them avoiding silly RFA contracts, but to be telling Ennis that he isn't going to be getting much of a raise from $875k, while offering a 36 year-old 30 million dollars, is fairly ridiculous.

I doubt it. If they were really worried about that, it wouldn't make sense for them to have the ridiculous offer out there to Doan.

Ennis hasn't proven much at this point imho. I'd say his worth a 3-4 year deal with a 3.5mill hit, back loaded contract.

It's was a bastardization of something Regier said.

He basically made the point that the CBA uncertainty has both GMs and agents a little unsure about how to move forward, but he things things will still get done.

The CBA isn't PREVENTING them, but it's slowing things down a touch.
