Watch them have Scott rated higher than Foligno...
They were pretty generous with Myers and Miller at least.

Leino is ranked as our best center...WTF EA sports. WTF.
And yeah, that is really generous to rank myers ahead of literally everyone except miller...i'd still put vanek and poms ahead of him at the very least.

Looks like EA's ratings are far more diverse this year. Last year enforcers were in low 80's and on te second line

The overalls look bad, but what really matters is the individual stats. It appears, in their new system, physical play and strength is weighted heavily for all d-men, and skill and being older than 25 for forwards. (Seriously, they gave all young players god awful ratings. Kreider a 69? Can't wait to see what they made Foligno. My guess: 55.)
If their individual stats are in the right ballpark though -- ie: Vanek's shot and hand-eye being highly rated -- I don't really care what the overall number comes out to.

I don't play much online, so I adjust rosters slightly anyway. Nothing drastic, but minor adjustments to get things in line.

Vanek an 84 and Stafford an 83? Um...no.

I think I'd go

LW
Vanek - 88
Hecht - 80
Gerbe - 78
Scott - 60 (even that is probably generous, come on...)

C
Ennis - 83 (but high, maybe 90+ potential)
Hodgson - 81 (but high, maybe 90+ potential)
Leino - 78
McCormick - 69 seems right.

LW
Pominville - 90
Stafford - 80
Ott - 82 (less of a goal scorer, but better in other areas)
Kaleta - 75

D
Myers - 84 (high pot)
Regehr - 80 (he seemed to slow last season)
Ehrhoff - 85
Leopold - 83
Sekera - 80
Weber - 72

Miller - 90
Enroth - 77 (medium pot, maybe 85 or so)

I actually made a team of updated Sabres on NHL 06, which weights intensity somewhat absurdly (which is how Foligno got to be an 89).

Doubt that he'll be on the Sabres. Should put Foligno there.

Also, I'd make Leopold and Sekera both 81s or so. I guess it would depend on internal weights, as Sekera is the better defender but Leopold the better offensive D-man.

Yeah, I know. They listed him, so I listed him. And I agree, breaking it down into Off/Def would be better.

EA doesn't put anywhere near enough weight on "ability to play defense" for defenseman. Defensive dmen like Sekera, Tallinder, Lydman, and McKee that, while great defensively, don't punish people night in and night out, have always suffered.

In EA's defense, a team needs to have 4 centers, which the Sabres don't. They have 1 center and a few wingers who have played a little center at different points in their careers.

I have NHL 06 for Game Cube (never liked any other systems enough to spend money on one), but I frequently update the Sabres. These were my ratings (that no one will care about, lol).

Vanek - 89
Hodgson - 87 (which I don't understand because most attributes are 80-85)
Pominville - 86 (low intensity rating dragged him down)
Gerbe - 84 (high intensity rating pulled him up)
Tropp - 80 (high intensity...)
Foligno - 89 (high intensity...)
Leino - 83
Stafford - 81
Kaleta - 82 (high intensity...)
Myers - 85
Sekera - 82
McNabb - 81

Because the Stafford - Ennis - Foligno line is as much ridiculous BS in video games as it is in real life, every player on that line is on a hot streak so Foligno is playing at a 99 rating right now, lol.

So what I'm thinking is the Sabres should trade Leino while his rating is better than Ennis and Hodgson....
