Hey guys, here's my two cents on the injury situation. My team gets a little screwed, but I think the points are unbiased as they are.
1) By not including them you are taking away organizational assets from teams. For example, I built my team last year with players I believed would be durable as I understood injuries were going to be part of the game. By not including them you are in essence making a player more valuable than he should be and thus empowering certain GMs over others which is not fair. I understood the 1st season as everyone was getting a feel for their roles and values they place on people however, since everyone is starting clean they now have an improved chance to redo their squad and should realize how things work now.
2) It also takes away the advantages deeper teams have over a less deep teams. This further encourages teams to spend more wisely on players as well as to draft better as they will be forced to prepare themselves for a situation in which some of their players get injured. With no injuries, again better built teams are penalized to help support weaker built teams.
3) The obvious point that it's more realistic and would be more fun.
Also, I'm with Rick. I've offered very fair trades to acquire low level prospects, I mean 6th and 7th rounders and have been snubbed so I think it may be shoot 'em up time. Grab them tranqs.
I honestly 100% disagree. It would be more realistic, but it would be more of a head ache. Its tough to keep up everything as it is, adding injuries would be a entire new world.
You want to reward the teams that build a talented roster. And it's been shown that even the most talented teams (Pittsburgh) sometimes lose to the "weaker" teams (Toronto).
I understand the realism aspect of it but I just thing it's fair to have risk play that much of a possibility. I know that's what it's like in real life but I'm not sure here.
But I told OB to post it because if enough people want it one way or another then I'll probably
adopt that policy. If most are indifferent then it'd probably stay status quo with no injuries.
Not to mention what a pain in the rear that would be for you. If we are simming one week at a time for this season, if there is one injury, line changes have to be made immediately before simming could continue. It would be impossible to do the sim a week at a time with the injuries on.
Injuries OFF. too many season ending injuries, and if its like madden career ending injuries. its a headache trying to control 1 team manually with with moves between the big club and farm, i could only imagine manually controlling 30 teams. With injuries ON let the poop storms begin. KISS
