good signing.
Figured it was a safe bet he would sign with Nashville, Philly, or Detroit.

A guy who plays tough minutes vs top-comp and kills penalties. Don't expect any offense, though.

Great pickup for Nashville.

Retaining Gill and getting Hannan gives them some stability on D and I think Ellis, Blum, Josi will all improve next season.

Will be surprised if they miss the playoffs this year, but they're still short on offensive talent.

That could be a good match, but I have my doubts and I hope I'm wrong.

I can live with that. I could see Hannan, Gill, Klein as the top PK guys, reduce Weber's minutes on the PK and put them to good use in the PP. Use the kids on the PP.

How is he with the puck? My only concern is puckhandling on a Hannan / Klein pairing; Klein is terrible with the puck imo. And don't reference the sick goal he had in the DET series because that has never happened before and will never happen again haha.

8th in offense last year and the only loss that played the whole year is Tootoo.

I also have insider news: Cam Barker has received no contract offers and is a dick in real life.

Tyler Ennis on the other hand is one of the best people ever, period.

Funny how that worked out.

Well, I'm sure Suter played a part in that offense too.

Preds are hoping that Josi, Blum, and Ellis pick up some of that slack, not to mention the Preds went young at forward last year with smith, wilson, bourque, halischuk etc. counting on continued growth

Oh, so Sergei is staying with the team?

I know they did well over the span of the year, but they only had 2.2 goals per game in the playoffs and that was with AK46 and Radulov, both of which are gone. Suter also had close to 50 points which they'll need the young players to make up (which I'm confident will happen).

I just think they need a top-6 upgrade if they want to get farther than last year.

Hannan is not a 1st pairing guy at all.......he can't play against 1st and 2nd liner....

Hannan is still one of the better positional defenders in the league, he's just not the physical force he used to be. He'll make some offensive defender look good, I'd pair him with Ellis personally.

Aside from the Flyers and Pens, I think everyone had about 2 goals per game in this years playoffs.

Yeah, he shouldn't be counted on to log big minutes. If he plays 15 minutes a game like another poster said I think Preds will be happy with this pickup.

If he is better than Ellis, then so.

Touche. LA was pretty close to 3, but you're right.

I didn't intend to sidetrack the discussion here. I just wanted to point out that although defensively Hannan helps make up for the loss of Suter, if I'm a Nashville fan I'm going to be hoping for an upgrade either before the season or at the deadline to help them past that second round.

He's a good depth guy. Solid defensively/positionally and doesn't get caught out of position much despite his lack of foot speed.

He'll likely be on the 3rd pairing though, so if the Preds move forward with what they have now, it could mean a big fantasy year for Josi or Ellis next season.

Josi will definitely be starting the year as #2 with Weber. If he ****s the bed, which is unlikely given his play last year, then you talk about maybe moving Klein up I think. Really doubt Hannan ever sniffs top pairing.

Good pick-up for the Preds. He ain't exactly Suter, but he's solid in his own end.
