One of the things in the NHLPA proposal was the limiting of personnel budgets for teams....Bergevin is getting them all hired before he is restricted by a potentially tighter budget.
Very glad to see us adding to our home-province scouting. It's clear Bergevin has a soft spot for ex-players like himself, which isn't necessarily a good thing or a bad thing. This is the kind of hiring that will reveal how good Bergevin's evaluation of staff, not just players, is. I, of course, hope Audette turns out to be a stud for us. Wouldn't it be great if the next Claude Giroux didn't slip through our fingers?
While I agree with your sentiments, I thought you should note that Claude Giroux was born and raised in Hearst, Ontario and thus has nothing to do with pro-scouting in Quebec.
But regardless, more scouts can never be a bad thing! Glad to hear Bergevin is still working hard to make both the on-ice product and management team as effective as possible.

Well Giroux did play in the QMJHL. So it's a valid point, it still comes down to looking at guys in your own backyard.

See this will never work if implemented. There will always be scouts doing their jobs under the table and off the books.

I guess you're right, they could have scouted him through a video relay of him from Ontario while he was playing in Quebec since he wasn't born here.
Way less complicated than having Quebec scouts watching him play in Quebec.
