One of the things in the NHLPA proposal was the limiting of personnel budgets for teams....Bergevin is getting them all hired before he is restricted by a potentially tighter budget.

Wouldn't it be great if the next Claude Giroux didn't slip through our fingers?
While I agree with your sentiments, I thought you should note that Claude Giroux was born and raised in Hearst, Ontario and thus has nothing to do with pro-scouting in Quebec.

But regardless, more scouts can never be a bad thing! Glad to hear Bergevin is still working hard to make both the on-ice product and management team as effective as possible.

Well Giroux did play in the QMJHL. So it's a valid point, it still comes down to looking at guys in your own backyard.

See this will never work if implemented. There will always be scouts doing their jobs under the table and off the books.

Wasn't Archambault a 1st overall pick in the Q?

Let the kid play a Junior game before wanting to draft him.

True but Archie boy was noted for his off-ice attitude. Plus I said it half jokingly as his kid was just drafted not long ago.

I guess you're right, they could have scouted him through a video relay of him from Ontario while he was playing in Quebec since he wasn't born here.

Way less complicated than having Quebec scouts watching him play in Quebec.

Is he the first full-time scout in Quebec in the Bergevin era? They didn't have one when Gauthier was GM.

A Québec scout doesn't scout only players born in Québec, he scouts players PLAYING in Québec.

For instance, it's a Québec scout that scouted Grigorenko for us last year, even though he was born in Khabarovsk (not part of Québec).

Pretty sure the user was being sarcastic.

Audette's kid is better. Much, much better. On the small side of course, but man, he's got his father's hands (no pun intended).
