Hello Bruins fans. Over on the Leafs board we have a Poll going right now asking which trade with the Bruins we would undo. The options were the Rask for Raycroft trade or Kessel for the future of the orginization trade. (guess where I stand) We weren't even given the Kaberle option because it isn't nearly as polarizing from a Leafs standpoint. Likewise, I won't even include the Rask trade on this poll as I highly doubt anyone here missed the Rayzor.
So which one would you undo:
Kaberle for Colborne, Biggs and essentially John Michael Lilles
OR
Seguin, Hamilton and Knight for Kessel
I wouldn't undo either, but if I was forced to pick one, it would be the Kaberle deal. FYI Biggs was not acquired from the Bruins, he was acquired for the Bruins 1st and another pick.

If you want to include Biggs in the trade you should probably take Liles out because TOR used a 2nd to trade up and draft him. And that 2nd was higher and a year earlier than the 2nd the Bruins traded to TOR so, in actuality, Biggs cost MORE than the 1st and 2nd that TOR received.
So the trade is actually Kaberle for Colborne and 90% of Biggs.
For me at least, Colborne doesn't hold much material value, except as a current trade chip, which I'm not too concerned with.
So when I think about the trade I look at it this way:
Kaberle for 90% of Biggs.
In a vacuum, I still rather have 90% of Biggs, but because we won the championship, I rather not risk it so if you told me we could warp back in time and I had an option to re-simulate the season, I would still do the trade because I don't want to take any chances.

amazing comments on the Leafs board about the two deals involving Kessel and Kaberle- will be interesting to see how they react if somehow Knight ends up a player along the lines production wise and value as say Marchand, and Hamilton turns into a beast.
Knight has been called 'stupid' while another poster broke it down and had the Bruins somehow coming out on the short end. What some seem to do is bring all these different players into the mix due to the Kaberle deal and many just flat out have dismissed Knight as just another guy the Leafs have an abundance of.
Its very interesting and I'll be curious to get their new spins if Knight visits the Wizard and gets a brain, and Biggs and Colborne are busts.
One nice thing about that thread is it reminded me of the days before the "He's a Bruin so he's the best! I can't wait to pretend he's one of my own children! go bees!"
Out:
Kessel
Colborne
Raycroft
30th pick (Biggs, love how he's being hyped as the 'next' Big Stud in TOR)
In:
Seguin
Hamilton
Rask
Kaberle
Knight
Stanley Cup
I really don't think the OP was trying to do anything other than spark conversation in the dog days of August. He/She has also said at least once the original poll could have been better presented. I think the question is if you had a gun to your head which trade would you pick? Leave the Cup out of the question perhaps and just look at it player wise. I know that's not realistic, since the Kaberle deal wouldn't have happened if the Bs hadn't been close. I'm just saying the OP came in peace.

Reason: clarity

Harry's hands were tied a bit on this one since "young" Tom Fergus actually wanted out and demanded a trade. One of the 1st (and only) times I can recall Freddy Cusick actually showing some real emotion and being disgusted with a player. His outrage was something along the lines of "well that's something I thought I would NEVER see...a hockey player wanting out of Boston", in that dry, understated voice that we loved so much. But this time it had a more sinister tone to it. He may as well have called Fergus a d-bag.
That Leafs thread is priceless. Along with being informed that the Leafs "won" the Kessel trade because Kessel is (without a doubt!) the best player in the deal, I learned that Rask is mentally unstable, Knight is stupid, and Bruins fans chant "Thank you Kessel" because we're mad at Kessel for scorning the Bruins franchise.
As for that last assertion... I was at the Garden the first night that happened, Seguin's rookie year, Bruins won 2-0 with Seguin scoring, the chant was spontaneous and absolutely fantastic, we were laughing our heads off.
The old guys always talk about that Allan Stanley trade with Toronto as one that killed the Bruins.
Searching through google news archives... Apparently the Bruins could've had Darryl Sittler from Toronto in 81-82 but Harry said no upon hearing his contract demands. Typical Harry.

My favourite was that Hamilton is nothing because of Gardiner already producing in the NHL and Rielly is a good prospect.
The Kaberle trade obviously (duuuuuh). I'm pretty sure we'd have the Cup without him (not positive), plus we could've traded Colbourne to TOR in the offseason for more because Burke wouldn't be able to use the trade deadline scramble for leverage.
Unanimous. Yeah this was a pretty bad quesion, Seguin and Hamilton will be good for years to come and kaberle although we won the cup with him really didnt help our power play at all.
