I guess the only logical course of action is for me to murder my family, give away all of my things to rich people, and move to El Salvador to convert the locals to be Sharks fans.
Agreed. Just an awful reason to miss out on watching games in person.
The funny part is that if you were at the games, you were already inundated with Jeff K non-stop. Watching on TV was the last refuge. Now all viewers will feel the pain.
edit: also, this whole damn conversation belongs in general talk
I'm with Txomisc here, I don't get the big deal. Maybe because I'm not a regular to the home games?
He's horrid to listen to in person, but I sure as hell wouldn't miss a game over it.
Whoever got it, was going to have some big shoes to fill anyways. Same way it'll be when Ralph and Razor decide to step away imo (obviously worse with them though).

Not the only reason, but Id rather spend less money to go down the road to Cedar Park and see our prospects than listen to Jeff K even more than before.
Ya, pretty surprised by some of these posts. How could someone who announces goals, and says one minute left in the period would keep you away from games? That is odd.
So for those of us who don't attend games, what exactly was he doing beforehand that you heard him so much?
He was the "entertainment" announcer guy. Any ad was said by him. Any of the on ice entertainment during periods was done by him. Anything that didn't have to do with the game itself, he was there to scream it.
Yeah, Jeff would do the hosting of some hockey trivia up on the jumbotron where he would talk to people that have absolutely no knowledge of hockey. Hopefully they get rid of that, but I bet they'll just slot in Celena Rae.

His gig the last few years has been to try and create some energy, and I would agree that it often fell flat. But, as you mentioned, his job was to be the entertainer.
I'm hoping that he won't give the same treatment as the PA announcer.
