No, he isn't.

I don't like this deal, because we haven't really seen what McGinn is capable of (though I doubt he's replaceable by Kennedy) and I think trading Hejda for anything other than a defensive defenseman would be a very big mistake.

I'd rather a defenseman who can skate the puck out of his own end.

Hejda is more valuable to Colorado than Martin.

Aw... The "what have you done for me lately?" line of thinking. That would explain why McGinn is being overvalued and Martin is being undervalued.

I'd disagree. Colorado needs a PMD more than stay at home defenseman.

Who's going to replace what Hejda brings to our defense and our PK? For all we know Elliott and/or Barrie could force Avs hand in the training camp and make the team as PMD's.

Zanon. Martin can play much more even strength minutes and play them better than Hejda.

Zanon can't be put in the same sentance as Hejda.

If you'll notice, Zanon was in a sentence by himself.

But yes, I think Zanon will be capable of playing a role on the penalty kill.

Why does it always have to end up in escalated douchebaggery?

McGinn has more value to the Avs than anyone because of the chemistry he showed with Stastny, short-term though it was.

I disagree, but even if he does what about ES? Zanon is a bottom pairing defensman. Hejda's flaw is his inability to move the puck (having ROB as his partner didn't help), but unlike Martin at least he's great in his own zone, while Martin is an avarage puck mover and an avarage defender.

I hope Sacco comes to his senses and pairs Hejda with EJ.

Hejda isn't skilled enough to play top line minutes. He's a second pairing at best. By the last year of his contact he might not even be a bottom pairing defenseman. He's a bad skater, and its only going to get worse by the time he's 37.

He did pretty good playing against top lines last season.

No, he really didn't. Hejda shouldn't be playing any more then a second pairing role.

He and ROB were playing against other teams top lines and IMHO they held their own. And I don't see how Martin would be able to play against other teams top lines, but Hejda can't. They both aren't 1st pairing defensmen.

Can anyone explain to me why the Pens would want Hejda when they just traded away Michalek?

The fact of the matter is that the only reason the Pens should add another defenseman is if he's a definite upgrade over Michalek. Hejda is far from it.

The humor is in the absurdity of bringing up Landeskog. But I guess we're all serious business around here and that poster's comment deserved a serious response?

Yeah, I don't think this trade makes the Pens any better. I'm not buying McGinn as a significant upgrade over Kennedy either, or even an upgrade at all.

You guys started it by bringing up Simon Despres.

I'd swap TK out for McGinn in a flash (comparable offense, bigger, more physical), but I can understand why he's more valuable to Colorado than anyone right now.
