Roy vs Tremblay debates should be interesting. Never thought these two would ever work again after what happened on that infamous Dec 2nd, 1995.

Looking forward to see how he assesses players/situations.

I dunno, I have a feeling they might not appear together, but I could be wrong.

This means that Roy won't need to call press conferences to state his opinion anymore.

First thing I thought of upon hearing this was how it's going to work with both Tremblay and Roy in the same room, discussing topics. Should be fun to watch.

Like another poster wrote, Roy's friends are liberals from the Desmarais circles. Not Peladeau. He can't stand Peladeau to be honest.

The whole thing feels like Roy got brainwashed by the Desmarais. I bet they promised him a nice little retirement package so he doesn't join the Nordiques.

Uh... you can't be serious?!

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Remparts group (Roy, Jacques Tanguay, Michel Cadrin and André Desmarais) are trying to buy a NHL franchise. There are are strong rumours another solid group is trying to bring a team in Quebec, it would make sense if it was them.

Desmarais has never been interested in sports. He prefer to play away from the spotlights.

You got it upside down (as most bloggers do! - do stuff vs chatting about it - )... the press is begging Roy for his opinions... that's why RDS (vs TSN, TVA...) gained a major point when they "inked" him.

--------------

Slightly out of topic (it's about Roy tho!)...

Each times I hear Roy's name... GAAAAAWD... I was so hoping for a Roy, Robinson and Groulx team behind the bench. That being mentioned, thanks to Mathias Brunet for the link, I do feel "ok" about Michel Therrien:

Extracts/translation:

"... He transformed the Penguins organisation. Before him they had no structure and the organisational culture was weak. In terms of pedagogy and tactical analysis, Therrien is vastly underrated.

Motivation? Most people are aware of his motivational skills. The only thing that surprises me about this nomination is that it took so long before he received another opportunity.

The guy is tough but, as his assistant, I was the players' voice so I can tell you that he takes good care of his players and the vast majority of them highly respect him
..." - Mike Yeo, head coach, Minnesota Wild

Then, Brunet adds that Crosby was among the players who congratulated Therrien.

PS According to Yeo (head coach; Min.) , Therrien is a good (Xs and Os) technical coach.

Owners of professional teams are always under the spotlight.. Do you often hear about Andlauer? He's part owner of the Habs, just so you know.

Also, you talk like you personally know Desmarais, do you think he would say no to a goldmine like this? Pretty sure he won't mind giving a few interviews to get $100M in the long run.

For Desmarais(the Father), hockey revenues are chump changes for him.

And if he wanted to invest big in sports, he would have done so a long time ago. The Remparts cost nothing yet they are only in there as part owners.

I was referring, tongue in cheek, to when he called a press conference to talk about the fact that he didn't get the head coaching job in Montreal. No other candidate did that.

Desmarais father isn't involved with the Remparts, his son André is.

McGuire-Dubé are perhaps some of the better hockey broadcasters...

what I'd give to see old men shouting over each other again....
RIP 110...

Thought I was thinking, when the Nordiques return, they HAVE to bring it back

Roy who was in the studio today filming some promo spots for RDS says he's looking forwards to working with Mario Tremblay. I guess they patched things up since that infamous night. Should be good for some interesting debates between them.

OT - but what the heck....

I agree on Dube, but Martin McGuire's play by play annoys me. He gives too much detail of things that do not matter at all. He is constantly spitting our streams of words for the most banal of plays.

Don't get me wrong, I like MM's take on hockey, remains level headed, not constantly negative and he seems like a good guy. I just do not appreciate the flow of his play by play. Too much about nothing.

That doesn't mean they patched anything up to be honest All that means is that they are paid by the same people. It will get heated..just watch and see.

This is where I must disagree, when you listen a game on the radio, the more details he puts the better we can "see" the action. Even when it's not relevant, it still makes it feel more authentic.

I guess it's a question of perspective.

When the air is filled with words, your mind has no time to imagine the game and visualize it as you would see it. I prefer to fill in the holes.

Is he gonna do it from Quebec City ?

Will he be there the same nights than Mario Tremblay ?

So, Roy is gonna work for RDS, a Bell Media company. Doesn't look good for a relationship with a future NHL Quebec team owned by Péladeau and Quebecor Media.

From what I heard on RDS today, Roy will be on l'Antichambre in the studios in MTL on Mondays, a day that fit well into his schedule since the Remparts never play on Mondays and players are in school on those days.
