Acton was retired. I checked the roster from that season. My guess is Shawn Antoski since he played in 64 games.

This is Giroux's team. We saw what he did in the playoffs.
Giroux is the leader. its kinda pointless to pretend like he's not gonna get it soon anyway. he knows. its only a formality. there's not gonna be any more pressure now than in the past. i really think he can handle it unlike some wuss ass players we used to have. he IS the leader and its not based off what someone said he could do. he can do what it takes to lead. he's proven it.

Pronger's successor

In the future, who would you see succeeding Pronger as the captain of the Flyers?

Giroux, Hartnell?

We have already had a thread on this no?

Timonen is likely to be the next captain. With Giroux taking the duties after him.

I believe there have been more than one thread over time.

There is always the option of Briere... especially if Kimmo doesn't look like he has more seasons in his system... to give Giroux more time for maturation, before Giroux takes his long-term reign.

Upon reading the Thread Title I immediately thought it was about Pronger's Defensive play and being a hard hitting net clearing shutdown top D-man with O-skill and excellent point shot while driving the PowerPlay... Who, or what group, takes over those chores now that Weber is committed to Nashville or whomever they may (unlikely) trade him to?

It then led me to wonder who will replace Kimmo also... the uncommitted D-men pool is pretty much dried up on the FA Market and trading for a top D-man will be costly and mean young core forwards would almost certainly be going the other way.

Going the developmental route be the most favorable... but would take much time and also mean one would have to be drafted/signed into the Organization... Bleak outlook IMO... Weber would have meant a rosy future, now there is only questions.

i don't get your avatar. i guess you hate us but are concerned with our lack of leadership? giroux will be captain very soon. i think they'll name kimmo too but giroux right after. i just wish we'd sign an experienced free agent d man to fill out the roster with all these injuries. it pissed me off that nashville got hannan. we should've signed him to a one year. we're leakin oil and season didn't start yet.

Nobody knows. Management hasn't said a word so for all we know, they could just go with alternates.

Timonen, and Timonen only deserves the captaincy. Giroux in the future obviously will be, but as of right now it has to be Timonen. Even if Pronger makes a miraculous return, I would still give Timonen the C. And Pronger is my favorite player.

Lay the C in the middle of the locker room, have an exorcism, burn it, cryo-freeze it, and then give it out next year...hopefully the curse will be over. Give all the players A's for 12-13

They shouldn't "name" another captain. The players in the room should decide. Never been in favor of front offices naming captains.
