I expected more of an impact in his short Rochester stint. He's got decent height at 6-1, looks like he has good hands and offensive hockey sense. He had great stats at Maine. If there is a lockout Rochester should be loaded. He needs a good season in rochesters top 6.
I highly doubt he plays in the top 6, even with the Amerks having a weak top 6.
I wasn't too impressed with him last season, although it was a small sample size. It seemed Rolston played Kyle Bailey more often.
So this kid is about as completely under the radar as anyone right now. I didn't notice him much during Dev Camp, partially due to him taking turns with some of the lesser lights and partially because he wasn't doing what some of the other, more taughted guys were doing with the puck during drills and the scrimmage. He's got finish, he's not growing into his body, and he put up a lot of points at Maine. It seems this one of the guys the Amerks are going to lean on (with Sundher) for secondary scoring.
I'll admit to being one of the many who've forgotten about him a bit, probably due to his underwhelming end-of-season stint. Obviously that's nothing to judge a player on, jumping to the pros at the end of season, but it happens. I was pretty excited that we nabbed him. Too bad he didn't do much at dev camp, as that can get a player geared up for a successful (confident) season.
I agree that getting solid production from Flynn and Sundher is going to be key if the Amerks want any hope of having a decent offense. And they better pray Porter doesn't make the Sabres because I somehow don't think Matt Ellis is going to help them find the net.
Thinking in the long-term,if Flynn can go 30-30-60 this year in Rochester it would be huge. They need another scoring winger in the pipeline.
That's just not going to happen. At this point, he may even start the season as a healthy scratch. He wasn't exactly impressive last season. That was a small sample size, however.
His best asset from what little I've seen is his hands around the net. Looking at his time at Maine, I'm really giving him the benefit of the doubt on his 5 games in Rochester last year. Maybe I'm just hoping.
