Is this your answer for everything? Throw money at it? He has, oh what's the word, commitment to not only his family and this organization, but also to his extended family, his animals.

I do give him credit for this. Many would be looking for the big payday rather than what he/she feels is best for the whole family.

I was listening to the Kirk Gibson Show on KTAR 620 during lunch around 12:30pm today. He said he was at a local ice rink watching Shane Doan play. Completely useless information but at least he is in town.

He should sign with the Diamondbacks. Think he can pitch?

Was he playing with a bunch of locals in a pick-up game? If so, can you Imagine the goalie when he sees Shane winding up for a slap shot on him? lol.. I'm sure he wouldn't be going all out but even if he hit him in the chest he could say he blocked his shot! I wonder if any other Coyotes are doing the same thing?

Tippett remains optimistic Coyotes will re-sign Doan

Quote:
...the fact that Doan remains unsigned this late into the summer is a good indication to Tippett that the Coyotes' recruitment is working.

Tippett, in fact, would not discuss any fallback plans the team has if Doan were to sign with another club.

Did you say linebacker?

The Rattlers could sign him as a publicity stunt.

He's built more for QB, physically speaking.

I dont really know if this is relevant to the potential signing, but unless schooling has changed since i lived there, Doan's kids have to have started the school year. I went to elementary/middle/and part of high school in AZ, and it always started early August. I'm 20 years old so i don't imagine much has changed. If they started then that may be a good sign he plans to stay.

“Shane is going to sign a contract before the CBA expires on the 15th,” said Doan’s agent, Terry Bross. “(Ownership has to) be done before the 15th, otherwise we’re signing somewhere because we don’t know what the new CBA is going to look like, and I don’t know if it’s going to limit any scope of a contract, so we want to make sure we sign before then.

“I guess from that respect, time is ticking.”

Whelp, I'd say that about does it. So long and thanks for everything. Class act all the way to the end. Stats be damned, he was truly our all time great.

I'm calling bluff. He wants to do everything in his power to keep the Coyotes in Glendale.

Well I will be most surprised if the new CBA is in effect on the 15th of September, so I guess I'll hold Terry at his word and expect to know who Shane signs with no later than 9/16. Just a few days over two weeks.

Cool.

There seems to be no escape from the "two week syndrome."

Here's an article from The Hockey News that has some good (relatively speaking) news on the Doan free agent status.
