R J Umberger

Seeing on twitter that he has asked to be traded wonder if homer would be interested and how does the boards feel if homer brings him back?

Discuss

I'd be all for it as long as the price was right and they could bring in a young D with him.

I don't know what we could offer or where he slots in aside from 3rd line wing which could be awesome but I couldn't see us giving up any real assets for him

A 1st and Cousins.

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Simmonds - Schenn - Briere
Read - Couturier - Umberger
Wellwood - Talbot - Fedotenko

Would love to see Umberger back here. He'd be a great fit on a line with Read and Couturier. Could leave Fedotenko - Talbot - Wellwood as the fourth line. That's a pretty good bottom six that could really do something special. As long as it doesn't gut the team, then yeah, go for landing Umberger. It'd be great to have him back.

Umberger would fit perfectly in our current lineup.

But can you provide a link to this apparent trade request?

Always loved Umberger, Columbus put him in a position to fail (he was never 1st line center).

However I don't think giving up assets for a forward is the right move right now.

And 4.6M is alot with us having to fill holes on defense and lock up our current cure.

Not believing it until it leaves Aaron Portzline's mout....err...twitter. Jackets are going in the right direction, and he can be a centerpiece to that. Hopefully he changes his mind or someone talks him out of it.

I love Umberger but I don't want that contract. So I'd pass. 4.6 million for 5 more years, no thanks.

How about Read, 1st in 2013 and Gus or MAB for Umby and Nikitin?

CBJ is very weak on the wing and Nikitin would replace Mez.

Don't think they'd do that. Value they're losing is better than the value they're receiving.

He'd look great on a line with Carter and Upshall.

Honestly, if by some divine intervention the CBA is restructured with a similar salary cap situation just with more revenue sharing, I would probably say **** it. We have Briere and Timonen expiring soon.

Umberger is good at faceoffs but makes way too much to slot him into 4th C and apart from that he is not worth giving up a younger cheaper winger like Read for him.

Even if it was true, and Holmgren could make a good deal to get him, it's the wrong move for where this team is at right now.
