What, Desjardins, or Burish? Because Desy is a 4th liner. Burish you could make an argument for, even though I think we'd be much better off with him on the 4th line.

I also think TJ could get some top 6 time depending on what else happens to the roster. Jumbos makes players around him better...

Gali. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the dog house again and play on the 4th line.

I agree. Thornton can't work with two bottom-6 players, but he could with one. Desjardins, Winchester, and Ferriero all played with Thornton for a few games and the line didn't look out of place.

You just don't like him because he chews on his mouth guard.

Fear The Fin ‏@fearthefin
According to @NHLbyMatty the Sharks will give Sergei Samsonov a tryout if there's a training camp this year.

I know, was he hurt and recovering... Trying to get the story here on his physical status. Looks like he became a UFA last summer, no one signed him...

He did play with Jumbo before, he's 32. Quick, good on the PP, had about 40 points his last NHL season...

I don't know where they would put him. He isn't suited for a 3rd line role and isn't good enough to be a top 6 player.

It's not thin at forward vs. thin at d, though. It's having an overabundance of defencemen against having a terrible bottom 6. Having an overpriced 7th defenseman is NOT as important as having a competent 3rd line, which we currently do not have. They're not good offensively, not especially fast, and not a shutdown line. They just aren't very good. If a team can trade a 7th defenseman to improve that situation they'll do it almost every time. I wasn't saying Hannan is a must, but I think dealing Murray (or one of Braun/Demers) to improve our forwards is becoming increasingly necessary.

You mentioned if we trade Murray, then have an injury then we'd have Hannan/Pelech/Vandy etc. in the lineup, which isn't the worst thing ever. What if one of our top 9 gets hurt, or worse someone from our top 6 (Havlat)? What if Handzus continues his terrible play? What if Wingels has a Demers-like regression? What if Galiardi just is what he has been the last 2 years instead of the guy we faced in the playoffs? Is Sheppard alive? We have way more questions on the offensive side, and are 1 injury away from catastrophe, rather than a Hannan type player playing 6th d minutes.

I think he could work on the 3rd line if he had a decent center, i think he could play up to his line mate/s if they are decent players. If he plays with what looks to be our 3rd line i don't think he'd do much, he does not make players around him better, he is bettered by those better around him.

We should just trade Nemo for a good 3rd line center and put this man in net.

Make it a top 6 winger with cap years and I would do it. That was an awsome save as he did not give up on the play, got his glove over and up to catch it.

That would've been a highlight reel goal but it made for an even better highlight reel save. Can't wait to see him in San Jose.

Yeah, I was watching some of his highlights. He has a lot of amazing highlights. I would like to see Greiss and Stalock get a chance at the starter spot this year.

Yeah, and it wouldn't be Sturm either so I don't get your point.

It just seems like you tried to make a bad joke with the Calgary reference and it backfired.
Aww.. sorry you aren't a fan... Too bad, doesn't change the fact that Hannan and sturm are crappy options for trying to improve this team. I'm fine if you don't get that. As long as DW does.

I never said Sturm was a good option. I just don't see how signing a 4th liner can suddenly turn the team into the Flames.

Doesn't matter much what the stars fans say. One of our advanced stat posters put up a big thing a while back about how well he was doing against good competition in a 3rd line role.

People rag on THorNton all the time too but the advanced stats seem to say he's awesome.
