Well going by what Dubnyk got.. I don't expect it to be reasonable.

Makes complete sense from the teams standpoint, lockup a young superstar, hopefully buying out a few years of UFA status.
You answered your own question. I am pretty sure a guy making 30 mil by the time he is 25 doesnt suck. And it guarantees that he will never have to work a day in his life if he gets hurt. Seems like a no brainer to me to set yourself up for life and go for the home run later.

Term isn't really the issue with Hall, it's more about what type of player is he?

That's assuming they all become 6 million dollar players. Most people on these boards would say that it isn't going to happen.

Even if they do, it's a pretty good problem to have. We could trade one for cheaper players or simply keep them all. After all, $24 million is less than what the Rangers and Wild are spending on their top four forwards.

So because an ok goalie got 3.5x2, you think that Hall will someone get 7x10 or something?

7 is definitely too much and I already said I don't care the term is. He's 20 years old.

Out of all my posts in this thread, you single out that one point to focus on? I came in here to discuss the possible details of his 2nd contract and that post was in response to another poster's point comparing Hall to Tavares. Take offense all you want, I'm here to discuss more pertinent matters.

And yes, durability is an issue in Hall's case. While that incident was unfortunate and a complete fluke, Hall has missed almost 40 games the last 2 years while Tavares has missed a grand total of 3 in 3 years. Like it or not, that's a fact.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

To get back on topic, I suspect that when Hall signs his new contract, Eberle will be following suit with something very similar. If Hall and Eberle continue their progression as expected, 6x6 would be excellent moves to set the Oilers up for a little while. I also think it's very likely to see RNH signing something very similar at this time next year. That's a lot of money to tie up into 3 players, but it would not surprise me at all to see all of them exceed their contracts in their play on the ice.

I do have a questions though, is it likely that these contracts be frontloaded or backloaded? I've heard that Katz has deep pockets, but similar to the Isles - they are still working on a new home to play in.

So then you probably know he will get 6-6.5.
And you think its because they gave Dubnyk 3.5? Or because thats the going rate?

Why does he deserve a penny more than what JT got?

And no it's because if his GM had no problem giving Duby 1.5 million too much, he likely won't have an issue giving Hall an extra 1 million+.

People have been talking about him moving out of Edmonton at first chance. We'll see if this will be put to bed.
Name one credible person in the media who has stated this. The only people to say such things are Easterners and fans of mid-to-big level market teams in the US (which to be *un*fair is most of the fans in this league)...

You think these kids are stupid, and don't see how much depth along with top end NHL youth and talent is being assembled in Edmonton? Each of them will get paid, you can believe that. And along with a new arena and one of - if not THE most - loyal fan bases in the league, they will stay as long as it makes sense.

JT took a discount. Just because one player is willing to take a discount, all players should lower their own value?

5.5 million wasn't a discount. It just speaks volumes to how ridiculous the recent signings have been.

Dumb post. Let me try. Going by what Petry got, Hall should get something like 3.5 for 10years.

So Hall should take less than Skinner because Skinners deal was too high? Thats not how it works.

Hall will at LEAST get what Skinner got, maybe more.

Forgot about the Skinner deal and because of that you're probably right.

People saying Hall hasn't had a concussion are full of it. Sarich hurt more than Halls shoulder.

Secondly, Halls a good player but JT is in a different league. JT created two thirty goal scoress out of fringe NHLers. JT is just about the only threat on his team. Hall can slip through defensive cracks beside Eberle and RNH.

As much as i like Hall JT has the edge.

JT - vision, defense, durability, play making, hockey sense
Hall - shot release, speed, acceleration, shot accuracy, agility

Has anyone said Hall was better than JT?

Something seems off, like it's much to soon for Hall to be getting extended.

Better reevaluate those sources.

Lots of people are signing before the CBA takes place.

at times sure, but mostly Hall was the guy who got moved onto the line that needed a spark because he is the kind of player who drags other players up to his level. Eberle and RNH were must more connected to each other than they were to Hall simply because if need be Hall is the most able to do it all on his own.
