I figured with Richards, Stepan and Kreider all being able, it could make Boyle an expendable piece
Kreider plays LW though.
Hansen isn't needed. We have Nash/Kreider/Hagelin on the left side and Gaborik/Pyatt/Callahan on the right side. I don't think Hansen is better than any of those players with the exception of being Pyatt (even then, Pyatt is still a pretty good 3rd line guy).
On the other hand, The Rangers center depth plummets when they deal Boyle. No 3rd line center.
Don't like the return for Hansen. I like him way better than Boyle and you can easily find a guy like Rupp in UFA.
The fact that Gillis hasn't made that extra effort to acquire a guy like Rupp through UFA or other means tells me that he's not interested in that type of player. Which is a mistake with Manny playing the way he did last year and poor overall team toughness.
I like the idea of bringing Boyle, but not at that cost. I think all 3 teams say no this proposal, value-wise it's close but factoring in team needs and whatnot, it's not something either GM would do. I'd be willing to give a 2 nd for Cleary is Doan stays with the Yotes.
Hansen, Kreider, Hagelin, and Gaborik on the same team wouldn't even be fair. I mean my team has plenty of guys with wheels...but cmon, those are 4 Lamborghinis
Detroit is going to want a lot more for Cleary. Don't see the point in Rangers making this deal. Boyle is a beast.
The organization would want more, but i can tell you most of the the fans want him gone. We pretty much see him as a guy who is taking a roster spot from one of young guys. If he didn't have problems with his knees and was put on the 3rd line then I wouldn't mind him.

I would love Boyle on this team as well, and its tricky because he's not exactly a buy-low candidate.
Hes solid defensively, big, can hit, can fight and has moderate offence for a bottom 6 guy.
Unless the Rangers would be interested in Raymond + for him, really Hansen is the only piece I could see going the other way (maybe Raymond + Lapierre but I don't know if thats something I could do).
I think Boyle would be great centering the third line but not if Hansen is the price to pay. I'd also prefer keeping our third round pick over Rupp.
The Rangers who are better on the wings than the Canucks probably don't want to give up their third line center in Boyle.
The Wings might like the third and fourth round picks for Cleary, to open up a spot for one of their younger players; however they could probably get a second at the deadline for Cleary if they choose to wait.
