Not a bad deal for Hall, considering his injury history right out the gate. If indeed he's a career bandaid boy, then this deal gets a lot worse for the Oilers. But the same could be said about Skinner and a possible start to a concussion history.
Wondering what Eberle's going to get now, considering he's been a bit more reliable. Perhaps dual $6mil per deals?
John Tavares' contract looks better and better by the day.
Not really, Carolina fans couldn't get through their heads that people were making fun of the timing of the Skinner contract rather than the contract itself.
This one is the same timing and you can say Hall's had injuries but not a concussion and he's a 1st pick plus it buys three rather than two yrs of UFA. It's not a bargain or anything but this one seems more fair and the timing is fine. And when I say it's not a bargain, I mean that he would have gotten $6 M if he had signed at the end of next year as well because I doubt he has a 90 pt season and demands more than that next yr if he was an RFA then.
No I'm pretty sure most of the people saying Skinner's contract was bad weren't making fun of the timing, they were legitimately saying it was a bad deal and Skinner didn't deserve more than a bridge contract and he would never be worth that contract "because he was already regressing".
Who cares that he's a 1st overall pick, he hasn't shown that he's any better than Skinner this point into his NHL career yet most people are calling this a great deal yet many of those same people called Skinner's deal horrible. What a joke.
Not at all. Hall has been unlucky with a few of his injuries so far. He has the ability to be a 35g-45a guy going forward, and that is a little conservative IMO.
He is the heart and soul of the team. Something is missing when he's not in the line-up... that drive and determination and will to win. Eberle and RNH are amazing but Hall just has that extra intangible.
I think it is a fair deal, or at least one the Oilers should make 99/100, but I don't think you can safely decompose the 'unlucky' injuries and the way he plays.
He is a man among men who plays like a man among boys. He's going to keep putting himself in compromising position unless he gets smarter.
God forbid the Oilers lock up the face of their franchise, former first overall draft pick and fiercest competitor for long term because he missed some time due to a rolled ankle, a bum shoulder that dates back from his junior hockey days and a skate to the face he got in warmup.

Reason: spelling mistake
Putting a lot of money into the hopes that Hall will shake the constant injuries and his career max is 53 points..
I think its more than fair to both sides, given that he hasn't reached his ceiling and it could turn into an epic steal. I undersand the thinking that he has been injued a fair amount, but he has also been the cog that drives the team. It is a given that the teams is gong to spend near the cap and if you going to spend the money anyways, you have to give it to your home grown players like the first overall pick you sucked so hard to get. Hall has shown dominance at every level of play so far and its worth the risk of injuries to make sure you don't have a Weber thing come up for the team in a few years.
PS I would think that as a philly fan you would be silent because your team signed pronger to a post 35 deal of epic proportions and he is injury prone.
