Teams that fit the bill off the top of my head are Detroit (they don't trade much though), Chicago, Edmonton, and I really can't think of others. I don't think we will get a surefire top-six guy from Volchenkov or Tallinder without adding, but there is a solid chance we get a fringe second/third line player like Stalberg plus maybe a prospect or a pick.
I would love to add Stalberg, especially at his current contract. I'd love to hear some reviews of him from Hawks fans.

Pass. Gionta's contract is too much to swallow, and his departure wouldn't quite make sense for the Habs.

Pass. New Jersey and Detroit don't make great trade partners because, while the Devils have the defensemen the Wings may covet, the Wings won't be willing to deal the forwards the Devils covet.

How about:

Kulemin

for

Volchenkov + a pick/prospect

I'm not 100 % sure of Volchenkov's value atm however, so I don't know what prospect/pick would be appropriate. The Leafs could use a physical shut-down D-man though.
Kulemin would be a great option, but I doubt Burke would deal him when his value is so low. Also, Volchenkov has an NTC that he won't waive, for family reasons. What would you pony up for Tallinder?

I love me some Bobby Ryan, but that package is too valuable for the Devils to give up. I think the best offer the Devils would propose would be Tallinder+Merrill+Tedenby+2nd.. And that will be topped by several other teams before the Ducks would have a chance to reject it.

The only thing that worries me about Stalberg is he is UFA by years end, at least under this CBA.

Gionta for Volchenkov
I jump on that. Volchenkov's contract for 4 more years is not something I want. I will take Gio's for 2 more.

That Bobby Ryan proposal:
Pass. We are not in the position to pass give away our top talent/prospects for someone who wont produce that much better than Henrique.

87% of his teams games over the last 2 seasons.

Anything involving Henrique, Fayne, or Larsson is a non-starter.

I'd prefer a guy like Chris Stewart or Ryane Clowe over MacArthur, but, if those plan-A's don't work out (which they probably will not), I would swap Tallinder for MacArthur in a heartbeat.

I'd also like to point out how unrealistic it is to target Zidlicky, Volchenkov or Salvador. Tallinder is the only feasible option for the trade market.

I would say that Cleary's real problem which gives the appearance of "knees of glass" is he hurts his knee and tries to be all tough and doesn't rest it like he should so he plays on it until he can't play without getting a shot before the game and that obviously makes his game suffer. Which is why you see so many fans dogging on him for his play last year, the wings shouldn't leave it up to him unless its playoff time.

It depends whether Devils are still in the playoffs race. Otherwise Marek will be the first player traded to a playoffs contender by Mister Lamoriello, book it.

True, but Devils fans are expecting a playoff berth. Also, we'd look to trade a defenseman before the season starts, rather than waiting until the deadline.

If we can get him relatively cheaply, we'd be interested. Since I don't see that happening, I'd prefer holding onto our blue chip assets and making a lower-profile trade.

Lams said that one of the main reasons they traded for Zidlicky was because he wanted to be here, did he not? I know that if we're out of the play off race, he'd probably pick up more than the other defencemen, but I just don't see Lou saying bye bye.

Marek Zidlicky
Mark Fayne
Andy Greene
Anton Volchenkov
Henrik Tallinder
Adam Larsson
Bryce Salvador
Peter Harrold

Ones I dont see moving are Larsson and Fayne. The rest are fair game (if Volch would waive his NTC)

We are set at LW and the C in our top 6 with Kovy Elias, Zajac, Henrique. At RW we have Clarkson, Zubrus, Butler, Tedenby, Sykora (If resigned)....None are really legit top 6 forwards.
Detorit needs defense. I could see a deal around one of NJ's D men for Franzen if the devils are willing to take on his contract.

In that case I agree, Zidlicky won't be traded.
