Dustin Leed on John Carlson and the Flyers interest

How ironic......Steve EFFIN Eminger!

Quote:
Dustin Leed via twitter: Leed was told earlier this offseason that there are certain players the Flyers will always keep a close eye on, John Carlson was one player mentioned.

Guess they didn't have a close eye on him at the draft

Weber, Carlson...

Any more to list in there?

In all seriousness though, every time I see a Dustin Leed rumor I cringe a little.

I remember screaming in rage at my TV that they traded the pick for Eminger instead of taking Carlson or Markstrom. IIRC Carlson wasn't even supposed to be there at that pick.

Isn't Leed the guy who swore Carle was going to be re-signed?

He said there was a deal in place and maybe verbally agreed upon, which is quite likely. I think Carle flew the coup after the Wideman deal and the Flyers nosing around for Weber.

This reminds me of when Eklund said the Flyers LOVE P.K. Subban. Yea, they loved him so much that they picked Kevin Marshall two spots ahead of P.K.

If this team had a healthy defense in 04, a healthy pronger this year, a goaltender in the cup run, game over, game effing over.

It's all if's and butts.

Not that I believe Eklund, but that doesn't mean they haven't fallen in love with his game since.

I remember we traded to move up to get Marshall whose biggest claim to fame so far has been dancing to that cheesy song in the locker room and then getting summarily traded after his brief stint with the big club. However, I did not know they drafted him ahead of P.K. what a horror!

My God, can this team ever figure out true defensive talent ...Emminger over Carlson and Marshall over P.K. utter FAIL....

Not really buying that. Any agent worth his salt would know Carle was going to get paid. They didn't need Wideman's deal to show them that. It was a simple case of supply and demand.

It's frustrating, but if it makes you feel better Subban was a huge reach based on Central Scouting's rankings. It was a really good job by Montreal's staff. They owned such a terrible draft class.

He said he had Holmgren, Carle, and his agent on record that Carle was coming back. Depends if you believe him, or if the following events changed the situation. The Wideman contract was retarded, and even more dumb since they're going to trade Bouwmeester.

Whether you love or hate Holmgren, it's by far the worst trade he's made and should rightfully be blasted when the topic comes up. You know who else we kept a 'close eye' on before acquiring him (according to Holmgren), Matt Carle. They obviously had a 'close eye' on Weber apparently. You can get these guys a lot cheaper when you have a keener eye on them before they're drafted.

Hahaha, everybody passed on Weber, he was a 2nd rounder. I remember the Carlson draft. Everybody I was chatting with was wanting him and then it was Bettman with . . . . "we have a trade to announce."

He is obviously not imagining a huge offer sheet from "somewhere" else (cough**cough*** ) like the Flyers....

Quote:
Steve Whyno of the Washington Times: Capitals John Carlson is still without a contract, but hes not worried about it.

I love Washington, I love being here, I stay here for a lot of the summer. I like my teammates, I like the rink, I like the fans, he said. I cant imagine playing anywhere else.

So many experts around here. How about everybody post who the flyers should have drafted in 2012 and we'll discuss it in 5 years.

Why not..comment is free....that's why it's a discussion board.

There was confusion about the move when it was made by lots of reputable hockey analysts.

Dude, I don't even know what you wrote right now (because I didn't read it), but I'm posting to let you know that I bow down to you for using Dan as your avatar.

After watching tonight's episode of BB...mind = blown.

And on topic: We won't take a run at Carlson. I don't buy anything legitimate occurring.

Flyers should hire him to be the next GM, coach, and goaltender.
